stuck at building environment

have wiped out save files and everything else... game still wont load... have reinstalled... game still wont load...

What's the last thing you see when "not loading"?
Is there a black screen or not even that?

i get to the loading screen saying building environment.. music comes and goes... after half an hour of sitting there still running my cpu and gpu up but not getting anywhere... this is bs... have deleted old saves, have refreshed everything to fix this.... this is bs and the game is completely unplayable

I think running the game as Administrator could solve the issue.

What size map are you opening, How much Ram do you have, Are you loading the game off an SSD?

A too big a map on an older computer can take 30-40 minutes quite easily.

you mentioned old saves, so you've loaded before, don't mind me. :D

You may need to manually delete any mods you had used. (A total uninstall/reinstall does not get rid of old mods). And use the launcher to clean game data.

I have the same problem, started a new game with the same settings copied the files and still stuck on building environment. deleted game started again, same thing, stuck on building environment. My OS is 3060 ti, loads of ram blah blah blah have tried finding solutions everywhere and apart from dismantling the PC and rebuilding the whole thing from scratch, or spending hours upon hours of looking for corrupted files attached to this game which ive done ffs. seriously what is going on? have spent nearly 150 odd hours on this save and im not starting another no f way. it will just crash again and save gone. where do ya go? have tried contacting support (if you can call it that) all they say is register into a forum and someone else will sort it. what else is there? Delete and never come back or wait for a patch?

Try making a new player character and delete the old one, then start a new game

i ran into this same problem after installing and uninstalling mods while inside my base next to a trader with boxes of items and muiltiple vehicles. i eventually was able to load in after maybe 15 tries later, most of the time crashed before building environment screen

yeh im outa ideas, i really love this game so dont get me wrong, in the 140 odd hours i have tried 6 dif loads and generally around 20 odd hours it crashes and corrupts one or more files that can not be found, very frustrating indeed. i finally get a decent save and on level 6 trader missions it crashes and back to day one its not good at all. The devs need to design and de bugging tool that is attached to the game so we can run it and sort the issue and continue. Is it that hard??

Did you even try to make a new player character? as that fixes a lot of issues. also you can back up your saves in case they bug out.

This is a late response, but my fix was checking how my computer was using my GPU. It wasn’t using it at all for 7 days apparently

Coming in a bit late on this but I recently had the "Building Environment" hang. What worked for me was to open the console with F1 and type in "regionreset" without the quotes of course. I would advise immediately exiting the game to get a save and then restarting.
