Can't Start the Game

I have tried about three or four times just now. The first time, I got the menu music, but a black screen. The subsequent times, I got this (copied from the details section):

Probably not it, but check task manager, or reboot? Make sure there isn't a stuck instance running.

A quick look online finds a multitude of people reporting the same problem and the same error code across a wide variety of games. The common factor is Easy Anti-Cheat, which 7DTD also uses (hence the 'eac' in "7daystodie_eac.exe").

A variety of solutions were suggested, some of which might work. But it's software intended to stop people playing the game, so it's not uncommon for it to cause problems in various ways.

Try turning off that Avast (crapware) before starting 7d2d. As long as you are not surfing the web or playing on some public wifi hotspot while playing 7d2d, you won't need Anti-Virus running anyway. You should have already placed the games exe's into the AV's 'Exceptions' list anyway... to avoid it doing checks while you run the game--which can cause this sort of issue. But, simply turning it off temporarily and starting 7d2d will determine if that's the culprit. Also, like Tahnval stated, the EAC has been problematic lately. Run the launcher and disable it for now... until you get the startup issue sorted.
