Fix Drones
Seriously. This issue has been present since Drones came into being (albeit recently). They will vanish if you somehow manage to leave render distance of an active drone*. The game will then get an origin ray failure that loops and essentially makes the game unplayable. The fix is to open console, type JD Clear (deleting your drone) and then going into your savegame files locally and deleting drones.dat and drones.bak. You then have to replace your drone and everything in it via the creative menu.

You put in drones so we could expand our backpack. Losing a drone means I lost hours of my time playing this game. Why hours? Well, I would not have spent the time looking for and dismantling every chair, radiator or light bulb if I knew I couldn't keep those items. I would not have searched every trash pile and kept every soup can if I thought they'd be gone.

Sure, I've worked around it. I only put lesser items in the drone and keep all the high value items on my person or vehicle (which have their own lesser issues). But the upshot is I just won't value spending my time picking through your POIs if I know my loot can just go poof and I have to go out of game to fix my game. I just won't. Cost v benefit, I'll just cherry pick. Which then reveals a serious shallowness to the game.

Just fix the drones. Do your code magic to make it so I can console command summon them to me no matter what. You don't even have to resolve the bug. Just add stuff to make them resilient to the bugs, so I can summon them. Sure that should be easier.

Many thanks for this otherwise precious diamond of a game.

*leaving render of an active drone happens when your gyrocopter skims the skybox going at full speed with a supercharger mod installed. It also can just happen if your drone gets stuck in a building or hole and you zip off on a vehicle before it resolves. It can also just happen.

There should be a console command that just forces the drone to teleport into your space, or better yet, a contingency code that does it automatically. Some hack and slash ARPGs I play like Path of Exile and Diablo 2 (classic) has it so if your minions get stuck and you walk far enough, they're forcefully teleported at your feet. This isn't a new concept.

Also, I think drones should completely ignore collision so they don't clip against random objects while exploring POIs and getting stuck.

Thank you

!00% agree and the teleportation thing would fix the issue but may also make the drone dupe bug more common (possibly giving players a way to dupe the items on the drone more often). Another fix for the drone bugs would be to make the drone an item the player has to equip and give players a new slot to equip the drone. That would fix the issues mentioned above and stop the drone from getting into the way while you work.

DRONE LOCATION FINDER:

IF YOU JUST WANT TO FIND WHERE YOUR DRONE IS, RUN THIS COMMAND:
->junkDrone log
(without the arrow of course)

so... there's this glitch that your drone leaves you and you cant find its location on tHe map (you cant put a new one either because your old one is active and just stuck somewhere).
YOU DONT HAVE TO DELETE TEH DRONE FILE (it will delete ALL DRONES). Just run this command and see where it is. Then, if it's location is strange (like 1520, -278, -2016 = this means its too deep bellow the ground), then you as you may.

(P.S. to find the location of the vehicles, run this command: ->le
or watch the console because it often prints the location of the vehicles on its own)
