Controller not working.

I just started playing for the first time in a year or so and I cant get a controller to work. I tried the usual Xbox controller and a Dualsense. They are recognized by Steam, but dont work in the actual game. Can anyone help?

Did you go through Steam Settings and configure the Xbox Controller first? Did you then open 7d2d properties in steam library and be sure 'Controller' is set properly there. Then when you load the game, be sure settings are correct for using the controller in-game. IF all that is correct, try first disconnecting the controller from the PC, launch the game and connect the controller back to PC after you've loaded into 7d2d main menu. If none of that works.....try going into steam's 'Big Picture' mode..then launch 7d2d and test. If still not working....not really sure what maybe the issue.

Tried all that. Turned on override, turned off override. Nothing works. At best it works for a few seconds and stops. Annoyingly my wife is able to play on her PC fine. Tried using the controller she uses, that didnt work. :( So damn frustrating.

Open the Xbox Gamebar in Windows and check it's settings to be sure it's not conflicting in there. Aside from that, you could try backiing up your save and map files, then do a 'Complete' uninstall / 'Clean' install followed by running the launcher--tools--cleaning options again. Sometimes....for whatever reason....that fixes issues.
