Theyre outstanding if you can afford the ammo and have a good set up for them.
In our base, we have a 3 block wide ramp that comes up to our entrance. It plateaus to a 3X3 platform that has a 1 or 2 block gap at the end of it to jump to get into the base.
There are 2 shotgun turrets across the gap (on left and right, oriented towards the middle of the entrance platform) that just murder the sh@# out of the horde as they shamble up the ramp.
It's freaking awesome. Our day 28 horde was just having heads and limbs blown off as they popped their heads up the ramp and then were getting blown to pieces before they made it to the jump gap.
Additionally, when they do make it to the gap and fall in, they just get chopped to ribbons by blade spin traps that line their path back around to the ramp, which, they rarely, if ever, make it back to for a 2nd trip down murder lane. By this time they usually have no legs so, they just get chopped up or beat on walls until we shoot them.
By our day 35 horde, since we were extremely pleased with the shotgun turrets, we mounted an SMG turret several blocks higher to overlook the field leading to the ramp, just to give it a shot and it was literally picking off zombies from like, christ, 20-30 blocks away. It WAS sucking up 9mm ammo but, between the 3 turrets, it was one of the easiest hordes we've ever faced.
My turrets work, that's not the issue, but my Robotic turret ammo is in my ammo chest and the turret is still working, bullets magically teleport to them ?
Don't they get loaded in the turret ?
The robotic turret is loaded with ammo manually by picking it up, reloading it like a gun, then re-placing it- It will continue to function even if it has no ammo, it'll just stop shooting.
12 turrets in action, 2 on each outer tower, 4 in the center with me, one each side.
Thats insane diff, 64 blood moon count

11,800 9mm bullets. takes about 1 game afternoon of mining for the lead, nitrate and coal, and I melt dukes for brass, doing quests, about 2 quests at my level (the loot drops being sold) cover the brass
