Lag when walking, running

whenever i move it slows down alot, when i look around its fine but soon as i move there goes all my fps, was at 120 constantly before update on the windows store version, but now after i bought the game on steam it goes down to 50's from 120 hz whenever i move even after starting new game.

Why are you here on Steam if you bought the game on the Windoes Store?

so basically windows store version its like the same thing, like age of empires, wasteland 3 etc the xbox app version is the windows store version for gamepass

What are your computer specs? (RAM, VRAM, CPU, GPU and Hard Disk)

32gb ram, 8gb vram, core i9, rtx 3070 ti laptop gpu, 2 tb nvme ssd

I see the problem there... your compuer is too powerful for this game!

But seriously, are you maybe running on Win11, I've seen people having sometimes weird issues with the new OS.

Some general suggestions:

• Clean everything before playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqDHsijAApw
• Run the game as Administrator
• If you're only playing SP disable EAC in the game launcher
• Be sure your Anti Virus software isn't interfering with the game (add the 7D2D folder to your AV's exclusions list)
• If anything else fails, follow the very detailed instructions by someone more expert than me in this thread.

It's because you have that free version data entries in the Windows Registry that are conflicting. It's slowing down the game cuz you cpu is working extra hard trying to reference the correct data while there is incorrect data also. Do like Jost suggested about 'cleaning' using the 7d2d launcher.exe, switch to 'tools' tab, click 'clean....' and select all the checkboxes. First make a backup of your save and map files though. You'll need to copy those back into the appropriate user folders afterward.

yep followed what u said cleared all old data etc and it works perfectly again no more lagging and skipping when walking or running, thx alot :)

The before mentioned things haven't fixed that for me and just moving was driving me more insane than any zombie dog or bird at start ever could, but the problem vanished when I lowered 'Reflection Quality' from 'Ultra+' to 'Ultra'. So one level down. Dunno why but try that, really! Maybe lower if needed. Running 1080p Vsync off and other options are maxed inclusive 'Dynamic Meshes'. And if that info is wanted: Ryzen 7 2700X, 32GB RAM(2933Mhz Dual-Channel), RTX 3060Ti FE, Win10Pro, virtual RAM on 'let system manage' for all non-HDDs.
