Easy Anti-Cheat Launch Error (Not Installed) - Solution?
I have Windows 10.

I went to start 7d2d this morning & there was a steam generated update. So, like normal, I allowed it to run the update & ticked the box which says start the game automatically when finished.

At the end of the update, it ran a condensed splash screen showing Easy Anti-Cheat opening page, but then displayed an launch error at 100% within the window, which said Easy Anti-Cheat isn't installed. I didn't uninstall it, the install must have removed it, with the intention of replacing it with the updated version, except this didn't happen.

I have the EasyAntiCheat service file, but when you run this, it displays game 12 in the drop box & allows you to uninstall &/or repair the file, but the game still doesn't run.

I got a bit radical & did a system restore, but the system restore has failed in both Windows 10 & Windows 10 Safe Mode.

I'm all out of ideas about how to resolve this, having spent 5 hours on it so far.

Any help appreciated! Thanks.

Sometimes your AV software removes (quarantines) the EAC exe file. If that's the case you should probably turn off (or pause) your AV when the install runs and reactivate it immediately afterwards.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know how I should do that? I have avast premium, which hasn't quarantined any of the files before, so I have no idea whether that's done in the AV itself or through services or other...

I have just checked what is in the allowed apps folder for avast premium & it shows steam as allowed, so whether there is something in the game files causing avast to pick it out, I don't know.

I have been into the steam properties file for the game, which allows you to verify the integrity of game files for faults & this actually comes back with no faults, which can't be right. This is very frustrating.

OK, at this point, I have found a way to get the game running, but sadly not through steam.

For anyone who wants to play the game while this issue is resolved, if you goto...

*<local drive>/program files (x86)/Steam/Steam Apps/Common/7 days to die/
...there is a launcher in there with the game icon, called "7DaysToDie"

*This is for Windows 10, so will differ according to what platform you play on!

Your game progress will still be saved, but you may lose steam achievements & your game time won't be updated on steam either. I need to test this out to see if there are any other issues & any found I will report here later.

The game seems to work normally when run from the game folder as indicated above.

So I encountered this yesterday exactly the same as you, all I did was to run through steam and select the "run 7 days to die launcher" instead of "play 7 Days to Die" and then selected run with EAC enabled, and it forced the EAC install. Since then everything has worked as much as 20.4 has worked (which is to say it's a bag of bugs filled with cats)
