Make sure the harddrive has at least 15-20gb of free space too.
The game must behave nice:
- It must check and tell the user if there are not enough resources to do a task.
- It must tell the user what resources it needs and how much.
- It must not lag or hang the computer regardless of available resources.
- It must not prevent or cripple multitasking. Alt+tab must work at all times.
16gb should be enough to do even 10k maps if you have pagefile set high and are patient. Although I'd probably stick to 6k and 8k maps.
I'd like to know did the designers really mean to make a game which will not run on less than 1500€ computer?
The map generator tho ... yeah. It is very demanding. Especially system memory. If it stays like that (which is likely, imo), they should really at least include another set of pre-gen maps.
Even the smallest custom map instantly breaks now, when it didn't used to before this freaking update.
Better let windows manage it.
It's just the moment this update came out the game ♥♥♥♥ itself.
We dont know if you are a noob or not, ppl are just trying to help, if you are here just to complain then just move on and don't read us.
Meanwhile rwg works fine for other people with same amount of ram. Too easy to complain about the updates.
As everything already been said, I'll just add, try reinstalling and cleaning all game data, including registry.
Then you must check that you don't have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of programs in background, that your pagefile is managed by windows, that you have enough disk space, maybe your xmp profile, but at this point if you still can't generate I have no idea.
Maybe you can give us some info on your hardware too.
If the PageFile is limited or disabled (or the harddrive is getting too full), the computer will reserve space in SystemRAM instead BUT it won't show that it's being used...because it's just being "held in reserve" as CommitCharge. Open TaskManager and then SystemResourced and select the MemoryTab...then look at how much RAM is being used for CommitCharge.
Normally that commitcharge can be moved to the PageFile...unless you disabled, limited or blocked the PageFile, then it stays in RAM as sections you can't use while gaming.
It'll want resolution lowered to compensate for the whimpy graphics while playing if you want decent FPS, obviously..but it doesn't crash.
