That aside, this is still alpha and once its optomized I would bet 8 will be just fine.
-Restart your game occasionally as well- There used to be a memory leak and I'm not sure if its been fixed or not but that might help.
CPU and GPU usage aren't even close to being problems, generally staying at around 60%
So no way to reduce just RAM usage?
edit- Alright dude, I'm not 100% this is it or not but when I used to run on my old laptop I could get far better performance all around by going into properties, then 'set launch options' and add this
-window-mode exclusive
Exactly like the above- I'm not positive thats the command I was using but I think it is- Hopefully it helps.
Also the more players in a game the more RAM will be used. Which is why only 8 players per map is officially supported.
Answer is exactly what you think it is; lower your graphics settings.
worked well. Now Im on 12 GB in my DesktopPC and im hosting local Multiplayer for 2 Players (and me).
I also use a dedicated Server in my LAN with Win7 and only 4 GB RAM for 4 Player.
Workes like a charm.
Easyest way to reduce RAM is to set the textures to half or even lesser. Looks a bit creepy but worked for me in the past.
(Ditch any unused apps that might have startup processes running in the background, etc)
Also research "windows clean boot" if you want to do some tweaking.
I know the minimum is now up to 6 GB and recommended minimum is 12.
With 4GB ram and a gtx650 you would probably be having to run in 600x800 and 1/4 textures along with everything set to lowest to achieve a solid 20 fps...
I mean, maybe you had the magical setup that something like that worked on (it happens) but I wouldnt expect its going to work for most.
I initially started playing this game with 4GB ram way back in the day and I think that was the min at the time- But you need quite a bit more than that now unless you want to run in 600x800 or something....At least for most.
I played with Resolution 1280x864 i remember. Textures not full. But it worked & I had much fun.
Now Im on an i5-4690 with 12GB and GTX 750TI and play with 1680x1050 with full size textures.
Looks better now, but as you know > even with a GTX 1080 the game may stutter if you're on a minibike with an engine > 500... This is not a hardware but a game-problem. AANd : if you play with 3 frinds, all on minibikes in different biomes... it will stutter even more. You can fall in a yet rendered hole in the world if your minibike is too fast... (I didn't until now ;)
and last but not least - im not playing in windows. my clean system uses about 400 MB Ram after the start. (But there are other drawbacks).
Nice.
Good research there.
