Lag and FPS drops?
I've been experiencing terrible lag and FPS drops every 5 seconds or so. I've never had this issue before with the game and it only seems to be with 7 days. Has anyone else had this issue and if so know a fix?

Too add, I have noticed it gets worse and worse as I play. Upon closing and restarting it seems to get better.

I recommend turning off screen space reflections if you have them on. They can be pretty taxing on performance.

Already off, not the issue. I was playing for about 15 minutes with no issue and all of a sudden the lag spikes started again. Could this be a memory issue?

Maybe, mind posting your specs?

It doesn't happen with any other game I play, even when running multiple games. It has to be something specific with 7 days to die.

Update...The lag was getting really bad...exited and re-entered the game and it's just fine again.

Have you tried disabling Steam Overlay before booting up the game? I've seen people say it helps. Worth a shot.

@OP: just for your info... the word "lag" is completely wrong in this context, you should use stutters or intermittent freeze. Lag is used to express delay when you connect remotely to a server over the internet.

That being said, it sounds like some background process could be interfering with your game: try excluding 7D2D folder from your AV scan list, or check if there's any other process that could interfere with the game. There's also a new Windows update that has been pushed out recently, when it's downloading it can cause issues like the ones you describe.

It's been happening for days now. Doesn't seem to be any worse or better. I already checked and AV isn't the problem

Is it more like a stutter or more like a full on freeze every X seconds?

Some people have reported fps drops near dawn and dusk - due to shadows of trees and whatnot being very long/large when the sun is near the horizon. I haven't seen this happen myself, but just a suggestion.

Stutter is a better way of describing it.

Then it's probably related to not using an SSD (unless you have 7D2D installed on one) since this game is constantly saving to the disk.

I do have it installed on an SSD and I have never had this issue before. I didn't know if it was an issue related to the newest update perhaps.

Check to make sure the update didn't reset your graphics settings?

(Again maybe you already did this, and I don't mean to seem obvious, but just brainstorming here, since updates sometimes do goofy thing like that.)
