Help..My character has disappeared

I was playing the game and paused when i heard a crash from another room. There was a storm and I had lost a piece of roof and rain was coming in. Power went off at this point.
Next day with the power restored I started up the computer and 7 Days to find my character doing a naked respawn. It was a complete wipe of my character stats. Back to zero skill level and game stage. The map was the same. My base and all my equipment/storage boxes where still there. The vehicle I was using was still there where I paused the game. Just I was gone.
Normally, I guess this would be so what, just start again but this one is particularly frustrating. I was pushing for that steam challenge to get to game stage 1000. I was at 575. I reckon I had over 500 played hours into this particular play though. And just like that. It was gone.
Does anyone know how I can get that character back?

I think you character progress is gone, the only way to partially restore what you had is to go into Debug Mode and give yourself a TON of experience. The commands should be in the 7D2D Wiki[7daystodie.fandom.com].

May I also suggest that you buy an UPS unit ASAP?
If you live in an area that is subject to frequent storms and such, it's a good buy.

When it's gone it's gone. But I suggest in future to manually copy the savegame files to another location periodically (must be out of game for this, leave to main menu).
This game has a very "brittle" savegame functionality and you can read such user experiences like yours frequently (power out). Making a copy also helps with all other sorts of hassles (screamers ruin your base etc.). For automation I'm sure there is a tool somewhere or you could "script" it at the operating system of your choice. Good luck next time.

And Kudos for a 500 hours playthorugh. That's patience ;).

i had this happen to me last week my computer crashed and i lost my character but my day 597 base is still there with everything in it i just cant do anything with my own character because i lost all my skills lol

Sometimes, you're settings might get changed when your game crashes. Double check all the game settings and that you're using persistent profiles....also that your profile is one selected. I had it where it reset my settings and defaulted to the 'Clint' profile....I just selected my profile again and voila!

Just had this happen to me. Day 8, I set blood moon to 9 . This is pretty crappy. Seems to happen often from what I've seen on a quick google search.
