7 Days to Die

No One is able to Connect / See my server unless i am currently joined to it.
Hi Guys,

I am Currently running a server from home A18.3 and have enjoyed many hours Playing with my friend, Brother and a few people that have randomly joined. When i Log out of the game the server stays up running fine and everybody in the game can continue to play but the server description will disappear from the server menu so no one else can join. Even if you type in the IP with the server running (without me in it) you will not be able to join, Only if i log back into the server will other people again be able to see it in the server list and be able to join.

Has anyone else had these issues? I have been reading everything i can find online but with no luck. I am starting to think that it might be a Port Trigger issue I.E. allowing information to flow when i have connected and "triggered" the port?

Here is my port forwarding on my ASUS ROG AX-11000 I know its a mess but i have just been adding lines to try to get the server to stay visable

Destination Proto. Port range Redirect to Local port
ALL TCP 8080:8083 192.168.50.128 26900

ALL UDP 29600:29603 194.223.70.3 29600:29603

When i load the server the last line that comes up says

2020-01-05T08:52:27 72.497 INF [Steamworks.NET] GameServer.LogOn successful, SteamID=90131664684652553, public IP=194.223.70.3

My Network I.p says 194.223.70.3

Game i.p says 192.168.50.125

I am getting very confused :(

Can anyone tell me what i am missing? or why no one can connect to the server when i am not online?

Thanks,

Your port forwarding is all messed up.

Assuming the server IP is 192.168.50.125, these are the rules you should have.

All TCP 29600 192.168.50.125 29600
All UDP 29600:29603 192.168.50.125 29600:29603

The "public IP" is your internet facing IP address. That is the IP people would use to connect directly from outside of your network.

You will only need to open ports 8080-8082 if you plan on using an external manager to connect to console, telnet, or the web API with Allocs server fixes.
Thank you for the reply, I have adjusted my port forwarding but I am still getting the same issue. After reading through many pages I have come to two main issues.

1. My i.p is not static
2. My service provider has put me behind CG-NAT

Quote - The cause is your ISP using CG-NAT, and this stops the server from being exposed. If you want to confirm, log in to your modem and look at the external IP your modem has, then go to something like whatsmyip.org and compare the IPs, if they are different you are behind CG-NAT. Talk to your ISP and see if they can opt you out of CG-NAT, I did it with mine, cost nothing and took them an hour, after that my friends could join my dedicated server.

I am going to work though both of these once I finish work and hopefully finally fix the no one being able to join without me online issue.

Sheesh. CG_NAT shouldn't even exist now that we have IPv6.
So No one can join my server unless i am online and they are friends with me on steam.

All my settings in the config file are set to visable, and public?>?? any ideas? anyone?
Did you get rid on the CG-NAT?
I called up TPG and told them to remove me from CG-Nat and they told me that i was not behind CG-NAT.

I then said that i would have to leave unless i could be given a statip ip, they said that would cost extra but when i came home i had a new IP. 60.242.26.241 it still says DHCP Enabled, but when i go onto whats mt IP it says Hostname: 60-242-26-241.static.tpgi.com.au status :" Static ip. Im not sure if this is just relating to TPG,s IP Status or mine.

Here is something pretty strange, My friend recently went from using his phone to connect to the internet to DODO home wifi. He now can only see my server when using his phone and we cannot work any way he can connect to my server through his DODO wifi internet????? he can connect to other servers but cannot even see mine unless connected through his phone????
Just to conclude this subject. I finally worked out that it was my service provider using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), i spoke to them many times about this and they would not give me a static ip. I ended up changing my service provider to a company that would and within a couple days everything stabalised and now my server is up running and visable.

Good to hear. I have DHCP on my service, but the only time my IP actually changes is if I change hardware, so it may as well be static.
