Blood moon possible glitch?
I apologize in advance is this has been asked and answered, but I've only started playing about a week ago...

The basic summary of my issue is the day 28 blood moon horde never spawned, and I read on another post to change the frequency to get the hordes back on schedule, so I changed it to 6 days and never got a blood moon horde. Verified files through Steam, everything checked out, set it back to 7 days, the day 35 horde showed up on day 31, day 42 showed up on day 36, now I'm on day 47 and for the last eight days I've gotten a blood moon horde every night.

Before anybody asks, these are not screamer hordes. This last horde just wrecked my house. I literally opened the door and there was a demolisher standing in my driveway, who promptly detonated. I may be mistaken but, from the research I've done, screamers don't summon cops and demolishers.

The only gameplay relayed settings I've changed were to try to get the horde back on schedule, everything else was video quality to try to improve some FPS issues I've been having. It seeks to have started roughly around when I verified files, which was roughly when the update patch came out as well, if it's possible there's any relation.

Has anybody else had an issue like this? Any suggestions? I really don't want to start a new game at this point and I'm admittedly not knowledgeable enough on the game to try to figure out what to do.

Once again, apologies is this has been asked and answered...

I've had similar things happen to me but much earlier on. It's uncanny how inconsistent this has happened and confusing too. I'll randomly get a horde without there being any requirements satisfied for them, e.g. fire, noise, or other nearby variables/events (such as quests).

Other than a glitch, it may be normal for them to randomly spawn like that even without a bloodmoon due to what day you're on or some rng. The game is still in earlier access though and bugs are bound to happen though.

As for what you can actually do, perhaps messing with settings and/or reloading when it happens is an option. You may have to recreate your world if it's that significant of a problem for you. I just kill them when I see them. It's amazing how effective a shotgun and a pistol can be. Same thing with knuckles and beer. Even without scaled perks with fists or maxed out knuckles, a swig of beer and that can be surprisingly effective. Fun too. Don't give up on your playthrough... The game is supposed to make you feel unsafe with zombies. it's what you paid for... right?

I'm not complaining (per se), I just want to be able to go out and loot, but I'm getting a blood moon warning every morning now, and I'm "behind" because it took me a couple game weeks to figure out the mechanics and get my FPS issues sorted out.

My issue is right now I have to repair/rebuild pretty much every day, which I'm having a hard time doing because I can't go out and loot, because the horde shows up randomly and I'm getting to a point I can't fight off the horde... because I can't go out and loot. Last night it was 8 PM, the night before it was 11 PM, the night before that is was midnight... I admit I like that it starts at random times, I'd just like to be able to build and loot as well.

The other issue (that I didn't realize until just now) is I'm not getting a blood moon warning in the morning, it's been mid to late afternoon.

And... I'm a bit annoyed it looks like I'm going to lose what little progress I've made and have to start over when I really haven't made that much progress or I'm just going to have to enable the cheat menu to get ammo. If I didn't want to play the game I would have just done that from the start and have all steel JaWoodle-level monolith horde bases on day one.

That last bit was me mocking what other people that worship this game seem to like to insist; The devs don't want you to be safe and therefore >insert dialogue here<

Logically, there should be some sort of consistency to the mobs spawning. For instance, sleepers may be able to spawn inside structures and even outdoors....However... Once you've already cleared them, the only reason for any additional zombies realistically would come from weird feral wandering packs of zombies on bloodmoons.

This isn't what the devs had in mind is their argument. They never want you to be safe, so sometimes zombies will even spawn inside the radius of your protection block (I've never had it happen but other people have).

edit: Honestly, it would be boring without animal spawns or even a trickle of zombie spawns in the wild. Same thing with quests that require you to clear an area. So, that should stay... Same with bloodmoons. I hope those never go away; They most likely never will too, so :steamhappy:

I don't TOTALLY disagree with the not being safe aspect, but if I have it set for a blood moon every seven days (hence it being 7 Days 2 Die), then logically I should have seven days to scavenge, repair, rebuild, redesign things that didn't work, tweak things that kinda worked, etc, etc. Right now... I have about an hour (real world time) to rebuild my base every day... or just start over from scratch.

That's not exactly fun.

Moved this to the correct section of the forum for you.

I would advise reading the Pinned threads, and following the instructions. Particularly the one advising how to post an issue in regards to providing your logs.

My apologies for posting in the wrong section. The intent was more to get information if somebody else experienced a similar issue.
