1. Start the Game Launcher. Go to the Tools tab. Click the button for "Clean game data". Tick the top two boxes, and select "All maps" in the Discovered map of remote games option.
2. Go to %appdata%\7DaysToDie and delete everything in the folder.
3. Go to the steam client folder and delete everything there. (i.e. F:\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die)
4. Open Steam, go to Settings. Select Downloads from the left menu. Click the button for "Clear Download Cache".
5. Reboot your PC. We want Steam to be on a completely fresh load.
6. Verify the client. This will make it do a full install since we nuked the data.
7. Reboot again. This is just to clear any cached data.
8. Try again.
This is basically the last ditch, wipe everything, and start with a clean slate "fix". It's the last resort when nothing else has worked.
I am honestly astounded that you connected to my 10k custom map with a fairly decent number of custom mods without an issue, and still have problems connecting to other servers. It makes no bloody sense at all.
EDIT: When connecting to the server, you will have to re-download the map again. It may take a bit for you explored map to re-sync from the server as well.
The closest result was _appdata_ associated with a different game.
For example, mine is C:\Users\Sylen\AppData\Roaming
That makes my save folder C:\Users\Sylen\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie

I still can't believe this game isn't working and that I can connect to your most complicated test server every time, without fail, and never connect to any of the other 20 random servers I keep trying.. Got any populated servers I can play on since the rest of the game seems indefinitely closed off to me? Why is this glitch so resistant to reinstalling? ugh.. Meanwhile a week passes and my friend and everyone else on the pvp server rocket past me in levels :(
