Sharing Violation on Path?
So I just bought the game today and was really excited to play, but something is wrong. Game booted up just fine and I got to the main menu, but the moment I tried to start a new game it started bugging out. I got to the part where it was generating lots when it started saying there was an issue with sharing violation on path and I couldn't shut down the game. Had to force my PC to shut down and tried again, only for the same issue to occur. I haven't added any mods and, as mentioned earlier, just bought it from steam today (August 25, 2019). Any suggestions on how to fix this so I can actually play?

googling has provided me with this

The appdata subfolders often get read only protection on them. Easy solution is to grab your current save folder from appdata and place it in C:\7DaysWorlds\ . Make this folder. After placing it in there you need to alter your serverconfig file to look for the proper location you moved it to. At the bottom of the server config file there is an omitted line that directs it to which save folder has the world files. Take off the omission <!-- and --> then put in the proper location you placed the save folder you took out of appdata.

Example, my own looks like this in the server config ... <property name="SaveGameFolder" value="C:\7DaysWorlds\Saves" />

Edit: Don't forget to turn off read only in the folder properties of the save folder after moving it out from appdata

since it is happening before you have a save just skip the appdata part and edit the config

This can be caused by your security software locking the files for a scan as well. Be sure the client is fully excluded from all AV/Antimalware solutions. (If you say you don't have any, that isn't true. You have Windows Defender.)

Also be sure to wipe the data from that map since generation was interrupted.

Hey I just solved this. Shut down the game. Navigate to "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming" and right clicked the "7DaysToDie" folder. Under the 'Attributes' section there is a checkbox for 'Read only' which was half checked. Unchecking this and applying it to all sub-folders. Start the game.
