Character resets to level 1
My character reset to level 1 randomly. Persistent profiles is on. Is there anyway you can revert your character back to your previous level? I've had this happen once before and it is very frustrating. If there is no fix to this I will have to give up on this game :(

None that I personally know of. Did the game crash or something?

Oh yeah I guess I should've made that clear, the game crashed.

if you are on SP, you can restore your character from backup.

go to;
C:>users>[yourname]>AppData>Roaming>7DaysToDie>Saves>Random Gen (or navezgane)>[mapname]>player

you will then see a file named "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.ttp" (xxx's being your player ID)
and a file named "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.ttp.bak".

delete the file that contains only the ".ttp" then change the extension of the ".ttp.bak" file to ".ttp".

You should now be able to restart the game and load in your character.
It may be at a slightly lower lever, or in a different location that when you left it, depending on how far back the previous save was.

Ok if I had to guess the reason it reset was because it didn't save properly. Really sorry about that one mate. The game only saves when you close it down. What I do to avoid starting over alot of times is I will shut the game down after about and hour or so of gameplay just to be on the safe side. If I had to guess more then likely not only did your character reset, but anything you had done previously had all been erased as well. In this case I hate to say it, but there is no way to undo this. That is the downside. The upside is it can be prevented by either periodically restarting the game or if you want to stay playing and still save it then use this command to manually save your world.

saveworld sa => Saves the world manually.

I believe that command works as well for the character progress as well if I am not mistaken.

I will leave you 2 links as well to read over.

For me I just restart the game entirely to give it a fresh run myself and free up resources. Hope this helps out some atleast mate. :steamhappy:

Sadly my world also switched to a MP save instead of SP somewhere along the line, not sure about that bug either. Thanks a lot for the suggestions and tips though guys, I'm sure I'll be back playing the game sometime in the future, just can't be bothered now.

I see the backup file , but its extension is just .ttp, its file type is bak, how do you change that file type, i dont think it will load it untill thats changed
vonbakker Aug 30, 2020 @ 10:13am
i used windows restore on file and the result was a mish mash of various saves, it sent me to location the restore had, but the day and time of day was same from before glitch crash, my club had no mods anymore , but in my storage chest was all the starter torches from trying to run the glitched save earlier, and in chests were stored items that i was now carrying again, it was liveable, untill program suffered some error and CTD

This apparently no longer works in Alpha 20...JUST did it cause my power went out. Did nothing....still was level 1 when I relogged.

I even deliberately went and changed the .Bak file to .bak2 BEFORE reloading my game...to see if my player level had been reset....it had...deleted BOTH the regular .ttp and the .bak it produced ...reloaded my .bak2 (renamed) ...still level 1. jfc.
