This isn't really an issue in any other game
Reducing numbers only made the delay less worse , disabling UNET in launcher options is the fix mostly
This issue is on here since 2014 as fsr as iv read
Unet does suck and disableing it is something I would have reccomeded had I seen your thread sooner.
Though the fact doing what you did made the delay "less worse" or not as bad if you will. Just reinforces my theory. This game is not optimized in full yet and just by it's very nature does run heavy which will exacerbate the issue and why you likely do not see it with "other games". The game also only officially supports 8, but people try to do 20+ all the time anyways.
