So I play with a friend on his server. All good. After 3 days I can't join on his server. He can't join mine. I try the same thing with other friend. All good. After one day I can't join. I can join other online servers (dedicated). I have a third friend and I couldn't join his server from the start. When I say I can't connect, I try to join the server and I see the "waiting for server" for a long time and then it sends me to the menu. If I try to join by IP I get "Could not Connect to server: could not retrieve server information"

I don't have the game on my library, it is shared.

You open with "So I play with a friend on his server. All good. After 3 days I can't join on his server." and then state it is not on a sever at the end "Was this Online Multiplayer on dedicated server instance (local or remote hosted)? no"

Sounds like a port forwarding issue, or your friends pc is not allowing you on due to some change in a firewall rule or something similar. Can't really say for sure based on what is posted here though.

Well you need to setermine what changed on your end since you last joined then if it is an issue on your end. If not then your friends PC is stopping you or your ping is too high. It might be worth doing a ping test to see if that is true.

The thing is that I can join a person's server, but after 2 days it's like I am banned or something. We are in the same region and I can connect to dedicated servers with no problems.

Have you tried disableing Unet and having your friend that is hosting do the same? You are timing out and then being kicked as non-responsive.

I don't know what it means but

What you want to do is ping test your connection to your friend and have them ping test to you. That is how you can spot real quick if this is connection related, or not. I am not sure exactly what the problem is, networking isn't my strongest area. However given you can connect to other servers, and launch sp games. It has to be either connection related, or down to software like a firewall or AV rule that is blocking you from connecting. Otherwise it would not be exclusive to connecting to the one firends game.

I fixed this by running ipconfig /flushing and disabling and renabling my network device

HI all! I'm posting our fix, since this seems to be a bug with the most recent hotfix. Spread the word!

It seems to be a combination of things. Primarily these steps seem to work:

- Don't use "censorable" language in your world or password. We had used the word for men's genetalia as our password, and changed it to something normal.
- Change your server password.
- If you don't have a password, set one.
- If your server is private, make it public.
- If you're running EAC, disable it.
- Verify all your game files. If it has one failure, keep running verification until it comes back clear.
- If it won't verify all the files, clear your steam downloads cache.

We did all these things in order of bottom up, the last one causing total fix. So idk which one or which combo it is, but these things worked for us.

Let me know if you try these things and you still can't get it!
