Sound effects too loud/game unplayable.
WTF TFP. Been playing this game a while, it's never looked better but please for the love of god fix the sound issues. I have neighbors, if using headphones, i have eardrums. Even with sound effects turned down 5% it does NOTHING. Chopping down a tree, opening trader gates, weapons, thunder? WOW?!? EVERYTHING is too loud. Then you can't hear the zombies at all when you are forced to turn down everything.

MAYBE I SHOULD FULL CAPS THIS WHOLE POST TO DRIVE MY POINT

yeah awhile back there was a female ugh sound that sounded like porn. Now I've noticed they have the taking a poop zombie growl everytime you close your loot container. Clever... NOT!!

the eating sound pisses me off, the new one makes it sound like he is being poisoned, whilst eating with his mouth open, ether that or a very poorly performed BJ

Turn everything else up and turn the master volume down as suits you.

The eating and drinking sounds are easy to mod out. I'll paste a code snippet below. The looting sounds can also be changed similarly. The sounds that aren't easily changed are the stupid "stinger" sounds you get at night, blaring loudly and drowning out any nearby zombie footsteps.

<set xpath="/Sounds/SoundDataNode[@name='player_drinking']/MaxVoices/@value">0</set>
<set xpath="/Sounds/SoundDataNode[@name='player_eating']/MaxVoices/@value">0</set>

I do agree that some of the sounds are too loud and annoying. I wish I could adjust the sounds individually but no games really have that option:) not that I know of

The tree falling one is the worst. Lol

I'll agree with this one. If I turn my volume up, that sound will wake up people 3 blocks away. :D

My theory is they make things 100x louder to emphasize the noise you are making and it's not necessary. You crouch and things are quieter. I went with some mod from a couple updates ago that reduces much of the noise, but not all. I can turn down everything to say 5% and things that don't need to be so loud are still too loud (crawler zombies? good lord.) but can barely hear the rummaging or the beating of a door by zombie. Yes guns are loud, but do they have to be this loud? if i turn down sound effects - this is guns - it turns down everything else, and many of those things aren't so horrifically loud and they get lost altogether by trying to turn down guns and doors opening and closing, things smelting, the list goes on. My point is you spend all this time making a beautiful game that sounds like **** Just master the volume levels a tiny bit.

You really think I didn't think of that?

That's not what I'm saying at all. It's the wildy inconsistent and disproportionate volume levels of different sounds. Opening the gate at the trader shouldn't be so loud. If I turn down everything and the master level down, pertinent sounds become inaudible. Zombie rustling behind you you can't hear because the trees are so loud you muted the game to 5%. If you crouch while opening the gate the sound is more or less where it should be all the time. I shouldn't have to play with my volume dial constantly as an extra step to playing the game.

I only made this post because I love the game and it being early access we should point out problems in hopes they get addressed!

What piss me off are these unnatural artifical sounds that play when its least convinient.

I sneak on insanity permadeath during the night with broken leg and try to use sound to avoid zombie i heard earlier... just for some ultraloud 10second long synth-wave sound to start.

Why cant we have some beliveable ambient sounds, like idk, wind howling, trees shustling, some insect bzzzts, or some distant feral scream. Theres so much posibilities, yet we get some kid with 5$ soundboard following us and smashing it at random instead.
