Snow in 7dtd falls too fast.
I have lived my entire life up north in what might be called a snowy biome.
Snow doesn't fall that fast.

What I am saying is that different types of snow flakes fall at different speed because of their shape, not weight. Which affects air resistance, hence the example with a parachute and why some objects fall slower. This applies to all objects with mass, not just snowflakes.

You are not wrong about some snowflakes falling slower, just about why they fall slower. It's a common myth that heavier things fall faster.

Actually, since we're talking about it, it's more complicated than that.
That's why they don't make planes all out of lead. :spaz2insane:

Obviously, I was trying to simplify it to make it easy to understand. Also, we are specifically talking about falling objects, which planes in flight are not afaik. Of course it's easier to fly with less weight.

Well, there's literally *loads* of reasons why they don't make planes out of lead. (ahhaa, see what I did there? cause I don't...)

Back on the topic of snowflakes.. I hate all o'them little bastards, getting all up in my face.. Juus' saying. :D

Another obviously. One example, lead is too soft.

Indeed. I like snowflakes, just not in my face.

P.S. How did this go from "why do some objects fall faster than others" to "what we makes planes out of and why it's not lead" ?

Our atmosphere, including our winds, is what's making all this very complicated.

On the Moon, it's quite simple : everything fall at the same speed.

I hear ya, I actually recently fell in love with the snow biome after coming back and I had to make some edits to the XML to get rid of 95% of the weather. Performance drastically increased after that and makes it super fun.

And what's wind and atmosphere, basically put? Air. And wind is also affecting falling objects because of air resistance afaik. I am no expert on this, that's why I fact checked a couple things before posting cause I don't really talk physics much.

Fun fact - a bullet fired horizontally on flat surface and a bullet dropped from the same height will fall to the ground basically at the same time as both will accelerate down at the same speed.

OMG! you mean... this game isn't a perfect simulcra of reality????

It's like, this is just a video game, made for entertainment.

The developers need to immediately cease development on all other mechanics and embark on another 10 years of turning this game into the most perfect and exactly simulator of snow fall ever made by the human race. Nothing else will suffice. When it's relaunched, they can rename the game "Seven days to snow".

I was thinking about this too, but didn't bother bringing it up until it might've become necessary to point out. ;)

...

We agree on air and atmosphere. What I wanted to point out is that our air is rarely static which means snow fall speed and even direction is very complicated and variable.

Air movement can be in all direction, even upward or downward and will greatly affect light and/or flat things like leaves, snowflakes and such. Even moderate winds often dictate snow movement speed more than gravity does. Snow can fall very slowly without wind to extremely fast in high winds. It can even travel upward in some places where wind is deflected. In fact, winds can even lift snow from the ground and move it for miles, hence laughing at gravity for a bit.

With all that said, about any snow fall speed in any game can be wrong compared to some real situations. It's a futile complaint IMO.

This whole complaint about the speed of snow in a video game seems silly to me.

I play games to kill time. Not to do scientific research.

I like how everyone ignored my fast falling snow clip i recorded outside my kitchen window (that i hoped it would solve the dispute) and just continued arguing about snow speed :fsad:

Mission Failed..

Bro. Its snowing in Arizona. None of it makes sense. Let it go. :buzzed:

**It does actually make sense though. Wild as it sounds Flagstaff, AZ apparently gets 100 inches of snow a year. TF??? Who'd have thought.

I see no zombies. So in a fantasy world with zombies, snow might fall fast :D we're lucky it isn't rainbow coloured snow then or floats upwards IMHO
