Finally! I stumbled onto it myself. The Volume Tool is now working, Ye Ha!
After failing to find the info anywhere in the world, and I looked for two days, I found some enlightening information that was wrong, but put me on the right track. I was just about to give up. One last try I thought and bingo. Imagine my delight when I pulled up the DM menu and saw the crate icon at the top. The crate icon (looks like a box frame) represents the "Volume" tool I was seeking. It allows you to mark off large sections of Terra above or below ground and either clear out what is currently in that marked off area or fill it with whatever material you wish.

I like to build underground and so the old "leveling" tool was a big friend of mine. But that tool, while still existing in the system, is now actually a "leveling" tool (like leveling an area of the surface) as opposed to a removal/clearing tool or as it is now called the volume tool. As probably everyone who reads this knows, it requires a modification to the windows.xml In this game, 7 Days to Die. Do not make changes to any other xml file in your OS or any other application. I would have to recreate the path if anyone else wants the information. Notice, I am not skilled at modifying XML files and make no assertions that my way will work for you, or that what you do, whether following my directions or not, will not produce some catastrophic result in your game or computer. Make a back up copy of your XML before making any changes so that you can restore your game or computer if you crash and burn.

LOL. Sorry. I'm a bit wound up by solving what was a vexing problem for me. These are "creation" type tools that would not be needed to just play the game. I like 7 Days for it's sandbox features that allow me to create the areas, buildings, underground tunnels, and living areas of whatever whim I have at the time. i.e. As one of many things I did, I built a paved tunnel system (underground of course) around the entire map, large enough to allow me to drive a motor-scooter (or a car), to any of the surface access points I had created. It was fun. I still do the red moon and zombie bits but I don't do much of the survival side of the game. Different stokes for different folks. (That should date me. ) Hope that makes sense to you even if it's not your cup of tea.

This game can be played in many different ways indeed, so it's fun you found your way.

Enjoy
