When did the game stop being fun for you?
(If your still loving 7D2D I envy you, but don't want to hear from you)
When did you start being more frustrated with this game than enjoying it? What feature was the dealbreaker that made you walk away?

For me, it was being required to have a town/trader on your map. Used to play with no POI, no cities, & no airdrops, just living off the land and treasure maps, pure survival. Can't do that anymore.. now the fun is gone...

I've played until day 50+ for my last couple games without traders/quests. Quest rewards are still broken and ruin the game IMO.

The only exception you may have to make would be the water filters since they seem pretty much required now.

So not interested in finding ways to continue to enjoy, just find others to join in dislike? When someone can't find fun, it might well be an internal thing.

I still play the game because I do enjoy some aspects and I can still find ways to have fun. However, the enjoyment of the game is not as long-lasting as it once was. Play throughs get boring faster and I find it harder to get excited about starting a new one because of it, and it didn't used to be like that. I remember, I couldnt wait to have some free time so I can continue an 80+ day run and I looked forward to starting a new play through on a new map. But starting with A19 and A20; I would start a playthough and get bored by day 30 or 40 and then wait a while to play again. In A21 I can't even make it to day 20 before I'm bored with it and I don't really forward to starting a new. When A21 came out I played it for a few weeks and I didn't like it so stop playing for a few months. Just last week I started a new play through and today I was on day 24 and I'm already done with it, and I have no real desire to start a new game. In fact, I dread it. And that's sad because it didn't used to be like that.

I think it started going downhill for me when TFP started leaning more towards traders and quests. And the further they leaned into it, the more tedious it became. The changes to the skill system are also to blame too since it became a 'spend points to win' concept a few updates back. Both of these major core changes took the fun out of the game for me since you were almost forced to play a certain way instead of letting you play the game like you want to.

I'm not going to go into every details since this topic has been beat to death, but that's the basic jist of when I found the game start become boring.

When they started pretending that a 10 year "Early Access" schedule was acceptable.

There will never be a 1.0 release of this game.

It has only gotten funner with each new alpha

only Creative mode and mods are this games saving grace for me, also access to most older builds, they sure do love making this game worse the longer they drag out early access.

IMO, anyone having no more fun playing the game should play something else or at least post on their official forum to have a small chance to see TFP fix what they dislike. It's what I'll do when I get to that point.

Here, you'll just talk with other players and some moderators. None of which can help fix your described problem.

Btw, I think it would be a good idea if the world generator could create the kind of map you want, or if some mod could do it. The traders are definitely the biggest game changer. I'm sure some vet players would choose to try and play without them.

When they started forcing hordes on me. Each and every horde should be avoidable. There should be a complete 100% safe home. Requiring maintenance, but it should be there. Just waiting out a night. Fighting really is not the only solution, yet the pimps declared that this shall be so. Either every fight or no fight at all.

It was all fine up until a16 or a17. My favorite game. My community server was exploding with 30+ players. After a16, rarely more than 10 at peak times, Now, rarely more than 4 players, apart from the first week after a new patch.

I would have declared a16 final, and then started on "7dtd2".

Same.

A17. Since some things have improved but its not what I want in a game anymore.
It never has been boring for me and it's been fun watching the game grow through the years, apart from that update around a13 when only 1 player on the server got the horde lol, that didn't last long though, it sounds like you just burnt out from playing it, some people need a change.

Also everything you said you like to do, you can still do, live like a nomad, moving from place to place, I get where you're coming from though, everyone is different, the update you will like the most or might have already played it is around a9 a10, no vehicles, never ending random gen maps, I would join a public server and start walking 100k + in one direction for weeks going places no one would ever go, it was fun though, I remember the further you go the more you could see weird spawns, like whole towns under water, literally.. also one server made a scuba mask mod, just for the crazy spawns.

Some things I do miss from the past, but overall the game is better now in every department.

I had a lot of fun but after 100 hours I think I've played the whole game.
It's a very repetitive game so except if you particularly like the gameplay loop, it's not worth it to keep playing and visiting the same POIs all over again.
The fact is that, it's not a sandbox game, not anymore. So everytime people say "then don't use X thing, don't go X place, don't do that", the game isn't designed to play like that.

What annoys me the most in this game is zombies having the exact same location each time you go to a POI.

there will be a time you get better than the enemies and know what will came, this is about every game, life is like that, since you wake up, do your morning stuff and go to world do your job. i started taking this game like my life: it can and will sometime get boring, but still gonna have something to do in a time or other. I suggest you take a break of this game and return like 2 days, go play other games or do other things. This game is good, but again, like everything it will get boring and you need a break
