7 Days to Trade (Why to ignore trader quests.)
Anyways a short update on the situation:

Do NOT do trader quests, trust me. If you don't want to ruin your experience.

Here is a short list on why you should NOT do trader quests.

* You can keep doing trader quests in green biom untill and you will get T6 shotgun, T6 Augor, T6 drone, T6 nailgun... you will get EVERYTHING you need.

* Going to any other biomes will be POINTLESS, exploration will be pointless because you are getting everything from the trader, you will only need to go to the desert once to farm oil and go back.

* Crafting / book system will be POINTLESS, you will ALWAYS get a better reward from the trader than looting / crafting, by the time you craft double barrel with books you will get T6 Autoshotgun for free from T6 trader quest.

* You will get an absurd amount of dukes, looting for brass and destroying brass stuff will be pointless.

* You will be locked to trader quest POIs, often time the same ones, from which you will chose the easiest one, the game literally becomes a grind fro quests at this point.

* Most POIs / bioms where trader quests are not available will be ignored, there is just no reason to do them ...

* The game will become boring once you have every cool item in the game and T6 infested will become a joke on hardest difficulty.

We decided to throw away everything that trader gave us, because there was literally no reason to loot POIs at this point, so trust me on this and just IGNORE THE TRADER QUESTS.

We literally explored 10% o the map and we have EVERYTHING, just do yourself a favor and ignore trader quests if you are looking for a hardcore survival sandbox experience.

Hre are some alternatives on how this could work:

1: Make quests a lot more further from traders spawn, at least this way it will take some more time and it will be an advanture to do , because you might end up doing some other POIs along the way since it's not worth to go to the other side of the map for just one quest.

2: Put a limit on questiong, 1 per week, 1 per 3 days , with a slider ....

3: Make it so CO-OP quests do not count as a completed quest for yourself, it's stupid, if you are a party of 4 you can do 2 RUNS and you lvl up trader , it's silly....

yes, this is morphing into trader questing sim
This game peaked at Alpha 16:bummer:
In the old west this was known as the Sears catalog. I think the real test of your skills if surviving a gamestage 80+ horde night.
The game is also more challenging and rewarding when playing against strangers with claim decay enabled. You have to outsmart the other people in where to loot and also in making a really strong base that wont easily be broken into.
In sessions without this, I have seen kids with all their stuff laid out on the ground just outside of the trader, tons of deaths. It's just all in how you actually play it.

Though I agree this game doesn't scratch the itch of real progression or even balanced skill trees. There needs to be a story that requires you to travel and/or search to progress in it. Other games have not found a way to do this while also being sandbox. It would be two game modes. Or it would be an mmo, and that's not what they have in mind so.

OK hear me out, it's not that bad of a name for a game really.
Why should we even call this game 7 days to die, crafting is useless, looting non trader POIs is useless. why do anything if we can just .... trade...

Can't find Water ? Trade filters and make fields of due collectors.

Can't craftTier 6 Autoshotgun on day 10 ? Well no worries, trader Tier 6 quests got you covered.
What about auger chainsaw, lol Tier 5 quests got you covered, why even loot books when you can get almost everything from the trader. XDDD

It's day 13 now and the game is BORING because i am in the end game already, nothing to grind for , nothing to loot for, the only thing i need to do is farm resources for ammo or just find ammo in POIs and wait for the hordnight.

It went from Help i can't find water day 1 to this game is boring in Day 13 because of progression.

I literally SKIPPED EVERY SHOTGUN, the first shotgun i got was tier 6 autoshotgun....

Thanks for the sandbox experience where choice matters.
7dtd = 7 days to deal :)
Been saying this for quite some time now, ever since Trader quest became a thing.

Two ways to fix this I think.

1. One quest every 7 days..permanent time stamp so you can't just log in and reset the quest.

2. Trader rewards are dukes, ammo, food and water only. And trader gear is leveled like random loot levels.

I like option 1 the most. And if it were such I would probably stop griping all the time about how trader quest have changed the game... in a bad way for survivalist types like myself.

Sure current system is great for zombie-whack-a-mole-types, but I am pretty sure there is another game that should scratch that itch..'Left 4 something or another'

I liked 15 better, 16 was too easy IMO. BUT I love the zombie agro system introduced later, and the throw your guts up system from 17. Food became real then. You might have to spend a half a day or more hunting just to survive because almost all canned goods could make you puke and go to zero hunger.
But too many people complained and it got nixed so food became meaningless...again.
But just my opinion, good systems will never return because there appears to me to be some kind of developer arrogance that comes off as "we changed it and thats it"

I like the zines system now, though many hate it because of the spec path thingy that is all they have ever known and some vets prefer it as well. Also I can see the preference for multiplayers.

The zines system seems to me to be a wink at past randomness without admitting they over structured the game.

But even here they made the whole thing pointless with questing and trading..
Mods is the answer. Though not perfect by its self but it is the way imo. Just waiting on mine to get update, its hard to motivate the guy that made the one I use granted. But I can relate, I am lazy too.

There is also the fact that they are waiting on the final 21 build.
You could have just said "progression is FUBAR'd." Lol

Man. Doing T6 quest at day 10? I'm still rolling pipe weapons by then, maybe first level of next tier.
Heck, in my first game I still fought the second horde with a stone spear and a lever action rifle, which was a very lucky find.

And getting power tools T5?
Getting auto shotty T6? At day 71 I never saw a T6 anything, barring some iron tools, some scrap armor and a few stone age stuff.

RNG is wild.
I personally don't mind the trader quests etc, ads another layer to the game - their reward sucks thoo after the tier one final bicycle (so hardly worth it compare to other activity's after that). And i agree with the op, the traders way often have the good gear compared to what you can craft. Either the trade skill mags drop-rate or the actual skill values needed to craft should be tweaked imo or it will be a trader game. 7 days to deal is a good name atm.

You know its unbalanced when you can craft an say wrench 2 from the perks heavily invested towards that due to skill mag drop rates and then you can buy lvl 5 impact hammers all over the place like its more common than the dirt.

now that you can get virtually unlimited dukes, the trader is all I need.

Which is the whole point of this thread.
