realistic base building very limited and poi spawn triggers
I never build this noodle bridge and similar weird bases. But the game has evolved to a degree where no matter what you do if you don't have a cabin base almost all wil fail to the fact the Z to dumb to find the entrance and start digging all over the place.

This is beside the POI spawn mechanic what makes me loose desire to play the game.

I did a couple of T6 Infestation (prison / corection). Burned through a lot of ammo and explosives, came prepared. Took an entire day to clear and there was one close moment due to game glitchiness purely, otherwise I was very careful. While the fight is fun, what makes it bad experience is simply the irational spawns. It doesn't make any sense. The strategy being always to stupidly move and try to set of the trigger, run back and kill everything, but also look behind behind. There is no tactics at all besides repeating the steps. And it mostly doesn't even make any sense when they spawn and how they run.

I don't even complain that the reward was trash for the effort compared to T5 infestation or T4 regular. Just the game play...

Currently play with 5 days blood moon, +2 difficulty, no loot respawn, 16 z limit, 0 death so far, day 50. I just finished building and tested with a screamer how the Z pass through my new defense line that was designed to be easy passable and realized they are dumb AF. I will probably have no prob doing the 50th day blood moon with the initial/first defense line, but as said, lost interesst. Its so disappointing.

I do kind of agree on the base thing. But its been that way for so long. Most people just have two bases. Your crafting/home base and your horde base. Where you crafting/home is the nice looking one and your horde base is pure cheese built by Mc Escher.

My current MO is converting a POI for my home. Throw up some walls and spikes. Maybe drop some turrets down once I get some. Tends to last only have to patch up random holes if a screamer or wondering horde gets a drop on me. While my horde base is a silt box with ladders and some angled railings that the zombies throw themselves off of.

Its because devs chasing the cheese builders had lead the game into a situation where you can only build small and simple cheese bases. How ironical xD

I think about settings style where I entirely disable blood moon and instead make the game throughout max difficult.

second the devs trying to counter people building bases that cheese the blood moon is ruining it for the rest of us.

they should not care that people cheese the blood moon because we literately can turn it off in game settings.

By the point of reaching necessity of clearing out T5 POIs I usually lose any interest with the game. Come to think of it - I lose any interest making POI quests somewhere past T2 quests.
IMO building is the only redeeming quality the game has. Building and wave surviving. Trader quest rewards are ridiculously inbalanced, almost cheaty.

Depends. Many of their decisions made zombies smarter, and the encounters less stale. I liked the digging update, the "smart" update, the floating and jumping updates, the "2 zombies do even more damage to the block" update. Those made it even more fun for everyone, regardless of their playstyle.

I do agree that the only cheese of zombies falling to their doom was not really necessary to fix. Can't remember the rest.

There are still a lot of base designs you can do. I currently adopted "jawoodle's" hamburger idea but with better blocks for melee. It's actually a double cheeseburger so I can smack the zombies forming a cheerleader pyramid.
Before that I would make 4 beefy small towers connected with catwalks(bars) to shoot down through. I had the ground level as triple pipe blocks so I could ladder to the basement level, looking up, and collect loot bags through the triple pipe blocks safely.
Before that I made my own old parking garage layout. 3-4 stories each with a long ramp. The ramps had a space for a blade trap each, electric fence across, and auto turrets caged in the center. The poor zombies that made it to the top were very weak.
But yeah, still lots of creative things to do. The devs can't take it away unless they take away base building lol.

JaWoodle is directly responsible for at least 2 years of development time. :7days:

This is what comes into my mind... Whenever you check something its his yet another how to cheese the game video. The funny part is at some point he was talking about realism seriously and at the same time then went to his noodle base.
