dew collector only way to get water?
aside from looting murky water/regular water i mean. playing coop with 3 other people i feel like all our production bottlenecks goes back to water. need water for pure mineral water, need water for high end food recipes, need water for glue that you use all the time for duct tape its just not enough water to go around for us and we are struggling, it was better last alpha with empty jars

I found at first I was struggling with water too.. I had to not make glue for awhile. Now in the 4th week I've got plenty of water. I usually make yucca juice or red tea as my go to.
Finding the water purifier for helmets helps as well. Then you can fill up on river/lake water.

The game now forces you to make hard choices early on in regards to water usage.

Don't even need to find a river or lake or wathever once you have the helmet mod. Just get a bucket and make your own infinite water source right in your kitchen.

tl/dr: late game was boring so they made early game even more boring to even things out.

I thought about this but didn't try it. My base happens to be near two rivers.
I don't understand what people are finding so difficult about building dew collectors. I'm just past day 14 and have 4 of them. Scrap Polymers can be a bit of a bottleneck, but if you learn what world items to harvest, it's not that hard.

Its the filters thats the problem. Some people are not near a trader or don't want to do trader quests so they don't get the filters they need.

I hear ya man. It's a very controversial opinion... I suppose because people who like the change and hated avalanches of empty glass jars also think that if you complain about one thing, it's saying every change from A21 is bad. But alot of people feel the same way.

I had to totally change my priority to being completely obsessed with finding murky waters and the cooking pot as soon as possible. Gotta make the base near the trader so it doesn't involve a trek to buy the cooking pot or the filters. Also, when things aren't going great, you have to risk dysentery with water on the map or murky water. It's not so bad.

Gotta keep scrapping, flower picking and salvaging to afford the pot as soon as possible if you're unlucky looting. And filters, obviously.

The dew collector makes it easier to get "more water" than you normally would. The downside is that it draws the attention of screamers and a bunch of other zombies. On my single player game, I have 6 dew collectors on the roof. It makes it easy when I need to make glue or w/e requires crafting. I also collect a lot of murky water; but you have to boil that to make use of it. I never have a issue with water. Food, on the other hand, is sometimes tougher to acquire.

I've done three playthroughs in the last couple days and I have gotten the water purifier mod in all of them within the first couple in-game days. Once you find that mod, water is a complete non-issue. You can make watering holes in your base or wherever you want on the map and just drink with your helmet mod for all the water you could want.

That's so weird. I have 22 documented (saved to excel, lol) playthroughs since A21, the first and only time I found one was this most recent one, and some of those, I played to day 16. Maybe this last update increased its odds.

You'd also complain if they kept water the same but made glue harder to craft. This "problem" boils down to how desperately people want to make TONS of duct tape to progress extremely quickly, and that's it. It isn't about drinking water, and it isn't about jars. It's whining because you can't have maxed out items by day 7 like before.

God I love the "I refuse to use aspects of the game and now the game feels unfair because I don't use those aspects of the game" people

Yeah, I think the devs need to stop reading the posts from 24/7 try hards bragging about how they have everything maxed by the 2nd day. All the "Har har, gamez suxx" posts seem to be driving some of the decisions lately.

The people who do this aren't normal players, and the only reasons I could see for that mad dash scramble to get stuff by the first few days in game would be on a pvp server. And this game isn't built for pvp. It's not balanced around that at all.

So the devs seem to trying to thwart the bizarre playstyle of this microscopic percentage of the player base. I think they need to stop listening to those people. Entirely. Just let them play pattycake with their own poop off in the corner, and let the rest of play normally.

Yeah, i'm not sure why i'm getting so many. Something must have changed because it wasn't happening before.

I think that i've probably done a dozen or so playthroughs myself. Many of my plays are only a week or so, kind of testing out different ways to advance through the gameplay.

I think the dew collectors is a well thought out approach to solving water access, coz it scales a lot better than running to nearest lake, coz the problem is logistics for me, ie; water transportation isn't in the game, you have to manually go get it, which means you can never have a self sufficient dynasty on top of a giant mountain top, and also the jar thing was kinda forced, who out here in medieval times building a million jars, surely you'd use existing barrels or drums or something until somebody invents a futuristic 2100 year old concept called an aquaduct, it was always going to be temp right. It would be cool if we could do plumbing though. Flush yr toilet to get unlimited 9mm handguns.

You can just edit the xml to keep both jars and dew collectors though.

Did the concept of a "hopper" ever get officially into the modding system? a block that simply moves things from one point to another would be great.
