Auto-Turrets
Just wondering when the Auto-Turret I heard about in the trailer will be added. I'm looking forward to the skill tree cause I want to upgrade my gadget skill set and was hoping there would be Auto-Turret. Is that something to be added soon or will it come later like with the vehicles?

I would just be happy with a mountable/usable LMG, using the 7.62 ammo of course, makeing it a expensive defence weapon but vary usefull , and some traps would be nice to,

One person decides to use the search function and reply to something, then all of the sudden the thread is necromancered back to life and poof, tons of comments for you. This particular case I didn't even notice.

Ugh, no automated turrets. It's simply not an item you can casually loot from the average residential house. While, yes, they can technically be built, they seem totally out of place in a game like 7DTD. Further, I think auto turrets would mean even less for the player to do. We barely have to worry about base defense as it is....

Leave it to the modders.

I made this post about sentries around Alpha 5, at that time the game felt a lot harder I thought. But yes you are right, sentries would be pretty bad now as its so easy to defend against zombies....

I don't care about any other game, nor do I have any problems with adding turrets. And when I think autoturret, I am picturing a computer controlled gun that aims for itself. So I could be totally wrong on the basics. But, I do have to scratch my head about the logic.

In the game's lore, do auto turrets already exsist? If it does, I just haven't seen anything in the game so far to make me think that the tech exsists. If they don't, it just seems way too ridiculous that the survivor is able to develop this tech post apocalypse. I can understand needing a book to reclaim lost arts like forging but to read a book and develop a brand need tech is silly.

This won't stop me from using them in game, it just seems way to scifi based on the current tech in the game.

also basic auto turrets exsist as of today in Real life

however a simple auto turret could be made with a motion detector and a gun wouldn't really take much and most of the parts are in your house - say that motion tracking light you have a cell phone or tablet

however I think the biggest issue with the turrets is people assume the world ended in 2015 we don't know really the era of the game could be 1980s or 2080s as allot of items are vague or generic so depending on time line you could easily say no or yes to zombies

with the creation of zombie bosses however and skill sets I'd really like to see better zombie killing traps or player killing at that rate

a motion tracking gun would be pretty balanced (yes hate me get over it) since a player could simply get past it by throwing rocks till it runs out of ammo - of course the heat in the area would go up and said raider would be swarmed with zombies - the motion detecting dumb turret (compared to a advanced head shooting friend and foe detecting smart turret) would just shoot at anything that moves - rabbits deer zombies enemy players friendly players if it moves it gets shot at - add small clip size to most weapons and only a handfull of rare weapons would even make sense to use to belt feed them - and the ammo cost to run 4 6 8 20 turrets against people would need a real community effort

as such the heat - ammo - resources needed - really would make this a nicely balanced addition to game

proper target analyzation is why turrets are not a thing irl. You're much better off having humans behind guns than a computer. Especially since the resources and skills involved in creating such a thing would be incredibly scarce. Doubt "Programmer" would be a very common career in a zombie apocalypse.

thats a toy - it shoots at targets in real life - its for paintball - it seems they do exsist

but it would make more sense the airplane from the military would drop them
I mean if they are dropping mines and rocket launchers a turret wouldn't be a big deal

also it isn't smart it goes off motion and colors

Auto turrets are about the most ridiculous idea I can think of for this game. What exactly is the thought process, "Hey, I like the zombie survival thing, but I don't want to actually fight the zombies, let's automate it." This is one of those ideas that takes the tension out of the game and turns the the enemies into conveniences. We're almost to that point now the the rocket launcher.

Just a way to help defend your base; they talked about the edition of it in one of their early alpha videos.

thing is zombies arnt the only things you have to worry about. think about this enemy players attack your base when your not there. theres nothing that will stop them only slow them at best. current traps are great for zombies but um arnt so great for players. having turrets at key locations inside the base would be nice. ie they open a door/wall and have a couple turrets to deal with instead of just free loot.
