Play online co-op? How?

So I opened my ports, but I'm really confused on how co-op works on this game. I created a game (tried public and private) with a password and when my friend searching for it, it doesn't come up. Do you need to rent a server in order to do this? Or am I'm missing something simple?

no u did everything right for putting it to private then a password maybe put 16 poeple then in steam chat invite them

have your friend just right click on your name in friends list and hit jon game no need to search for it

I tried that as well, join game is blanked out :(

don't set the game private as this won't show up for your friends as this is more of a lan function.

If you want a password on the server then simply click public then add password then he should be able to find ya

I got it working now. I do have one question though. Since I created the game, if I'm not online playing that game, I assume he can't play and continue where we left off, but instead has to wait for me to log on?

yea if ur the host it will be saved just click continue when u want to play the game

That part I know, I just mean if I'm not playing and my friend who I've been playing wants to play on the same game we've been working on. Is that possible or no?

I think it is only possible when you are playing as well.

And if you delete the saved game it's gone.

With that said, I've had major connection issues with a public game and that causes issues.

Use Hamachi it works perfectly.

You do not need Hamatchi.

The only thing you need to do is as a host, Foward the ports. Invite VIA Steam. Done.

it seems i can join his game but he cannot join mine, any ideas?
