Empty Glass Jars . .
So I know this had to have been spoken on before, but when I drink from a glass jar that I've either looted and or found and refill it will water from a nearby lake and then drink it. Then entire glass jar is vanished from inventory? I mean I know it would make it way to easy to drink water and it's not really a threat since Zombie loot is pretty much a gold mine everytime. Just saying, I notice that drinking from a glass jar the entire item is gone when it just seems like the jar should just be empty again?

You drink russian style, and smash the glass on the floor.. !! ;)

I totally agree though, it's so unlogical. Yes, you can craft new ones, but it seems quite silly that this has been forced to disappear just to emphasize the crafting in the game. I love the crafting system, I love how complex it goes and how much you need to craft to obtain what you need. But losing glass bottles after drinking some water from it is just ridiculous. Game or not, cool crafting or not, losing a bottle after drinking = awkward.

Perhaps a better decision would have been to use some paper cups to drink, which will break down just as any tool you use (pickaxe, shovel, ...).

Oh...you can craft new ones? Didn't even know that. That's not so bad then. Yeah Backrub doesn't make sense but at least crafting new ones is there, I didn't know that at all.

Trick is...

you craft new ones (from snd) and have a stack of 400+...
Then you just drink from that, so you dont have to fill 20 chests with glasbottles and water.

Getting the jar back would be nice. Bigger thing is I'd like to drink right from the river or lake w/o
using a jar.

That's what I also noticed, getting the empty jar back would be nice :)

Maybe you can't because you need to filter the water, due to possible radiation or infected water, in RPG terms?

I think the point is that potable water is difficult to acquire. The disappearing glass simulates that somewhat. Certainly, it makes little sense in terms of realism, but getting ride of this requires a solution for drinking water. How about...

Making two kinds of water voxals. One that is "flowing water" and one that is "stagnant water". Flowing water acts as water currently does (expands into neighboring spaces and it endless); with the exception that flowing water can only be flowing water if it is next to an existing flowing water voxal. When water is removed from flowing water via a bucket or glass, it becomes stagnant water, disappears when it is consumed, and does not fill neighboring spaces when it is poured out.

This means that if you want a continuous source of water, you need to actually dig a tunnel to a lake or river. You can't just carry a bucket into your cave and make an eternal waterfall out of it (as fun as that sometimes is).

And I second the water filter idea. Making fresh water should be a real pain. Rain catchers could be good too (assuming there will be rain) and evapouration catchers made out of plastic bags would be good too.

I really like these ideas, but drinking directly from a river sounds good too. It could have negative effects, like a chance of making you sick and you make more noise which in turn can lead zombies to you or scare off wild life that you may or may not be hunting.
