Public game is unplayable due to griefers
I bought the game. Join an official public server when there were only 2 people in the server. Spent almost 3 hours building my sky loft. 3 new people join and they all spawn on me while I'm working on my sky garden. They start destroying. I ask them to stop which they replied..

"..go cry"

They do nothing but ruin other people's structure... for fun

PVE, you cant stop them
PVP, you can kill them but trust me, you will be the one leaving the server before them

Until there is a protecting plugin like minecraft, the only solution now is to play Private with your friends. Lesson learnt.

You could always password it

I agree with your statement about how there should be security.

But, this kind of also have destroyed the meaning of this game. Its suppose to be "Survival of the Fittest" not the Most Friendly achievement get. I do agree that servers should have the right to be able to choose whether player buildings are allowed to be invaded or not. Since this is still a early access, you'll just have to probably wait for a year until this game is fully developed and maybe moddable with the steam workshop :D

There are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in every game, society, city and country - You can't do anything about it. The situation you got caught in is simply unlucky. I've played countless times on public servers and it consisted of mostly serious people, it was a rare occasion to see a person who is a griefer.

Is there no admin option for a server so you can simply kick/ban the griefers?

All games online will always have griefers. World is full of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ no-lifers who have an urge to ruin other peoples gaming experience to compensate for their own personal shortcommings.

Want to avoid griefers then play with friends or go hardcore with ban option.

Having admin functions for the server owners + people that are flagged as admin by the server owner should be implemented later one. Just keep in mind this is an Alpha release. So whining about it doesn't really work. But coming up with solutions does.

- add admin functions for server owner.

Did followed this game on kickstarter but seeing the posts of people it was obvious what kind of people where going to play this , chickenshit puppykickers that in real life tell mum and daddy crying that people are so mean .Try to say care bear to a Marine he will explain the meaning of Semperfidelis by kicking your butt so hard you will not be able to sit for months

I'm afraid your only solution is to play on private servers with friends only.
Keep the muppets like SirLootalot out of your games - let them go off and mutually masturbate with other griefers.

Protecting plugin like minecraft? Are you seriour?! No, thanks, no need for this ♥♥♥♥♥. I want to be able to go whenver I want, destroy what I want and take what I want. This isn't silly building game like your favorite Minecraft. You should protect your house yourself. And you can always play only with your friends.

Key word here is options.

1. No limitations, fully open server/world where you can destroy or steal other people's items, or kill them.
2. No PvP, but option to destroy and steal still in place.
3. Minecraft style protection.
4. Play on friend / invite only server

This way, everyone can play the way they prefer depending on which server rules are active.

Wanna grief, join option 1 or 2 servers.
Want co-op and no griefers, go with option 3 or 4.

Problem solved.

Continue to play your minecraft if all you want is building.
Angel of Verdun Dec 15, 2013 @ 5:30am
Minecraft doesn't have the same type of gunplay and aggressive zombies that attack and tear down your outpost during the night.

I like the combination of building, crafting and fighting zombies.

So why should I go play another game when this game offers just that?
Genebris Dec 15, 2013 @ 5:31am
Ok. Why not just play singleplayer if you don't want other people to do anything?
Angel of Verdun Dec 15, 2013 @ 5:32am
Because I enjoy co-op, and I want to play with friends and/or mature people who enjoy working together as a team.

Game offers that too.

Again, give options in terms of server rulesets and everyone is happy.
Genebris Dec 15, 2013 @ 5:34am
But preventing people from doing anything isn't working in team! All good co-op tactical shooters have friendly fire. This is the same. You can play on dedicated servers with your friends, but theey should be able to destroy your base or kill you.
Angel of Verdun Dec 15, 2013 @ 5:39am
That is your opinion.

A lot of us prefer to play dedicated FPS games for that type of experience, such as battlefield, planetside and similar.

In this game what is interest, for me at least (and many others, including friends) is to work together as a team. We build a base together, defend it against zombies, scavenge for supplies and survive together.

If I want to defend a base against other players, I will play Capture the Flag in Tribes or something like that.

Just because you want this game to have options to grief, fight other players and whatmore doesn't mean me or my friends do.

We want a grief free gaming experience in this game, so we prefer server rulesets that accomodate for this playstyle. For you it's about fighting other players, so you want a server ruleset to accomodate for that.

We want different things from same game, so game needs to give us options to do both things.
