Problem finding 'forge ahead' book

I have been playing for 6 hours on 1 character and I can't find a single book that unlocks the forge, is there a specific place where these drop ? like farms or cities ?

Check, Bookshelves, Small Safes, Letterboxes, Library in City, Air Drop Crates, also in other random Containers.

On one of my games I had to search about 50 houses 'til I found one in a bookshelf.

Sometimes I find loads of them, sometimes - like my current game - I search a whole town and don't find any.

they're around, but really hard to find if you're on a MP server that's been up for a couple weeks. I don't like how you can't even do some basic smelting without it. They should have a basic forge for start, then books for more advance smelting and smithing.

im in a 15 house town, going from one to the next, still no forgebook after 3 different random map games and many, many lives.

its rarest book after enforcer magazine, I usually have 2 books of each before I find forge ahead
easy to find pffft

looted entire bookstore and got only two of them

Wow I must just consider myself lucky. I always find forge ahead within 20 minutes, I never knew it was rare I guess now it will be impossible to find, because I know it is rare haha

Just look for one of those towns with like 10 houses. There is one per biome. Each house usually has a bookshelf or two. Just get in and get out of each house while avoiding zombies until you find it.

i dont know why the random number generator seems so bad for some folks.
our MP server wipes after each update and we all easily find the forge book in atleast every other house in every single new game we start.
its hands down the most common book in the game by a factor of 3.

It´s really really just luck, i´ve found a forge book after the first day (and sooooo many ones after that) while other players on the same server didn´t find one in 10 days or more....

My general rule of the thumb for gameplay is that I don't leave the city until I find the forge ahead book. You can't live out in the wilderness without it! lol

The only time for me, so far (12-15 game starts), where I haven't found the Forge book within the first (real-time) hour is when I spawn in the middle of nowhere with a real town - not just a gas station or barn - being what seems like a 100 mile jog away. Most times tho I find it in trash piles or in some house bookshelf within 30 minutes.

Even if it's "very common," since I assume it's still some kind of high percentage chance, some people just seem to have some very unlucky streaks with the RNG (random number generator).
