Well it depends. But in most cases it gets boring when you build whatever you wanted and safe there.

As it is a sandbox without a story, there is no "beating the game". Even some of the better weapons (sniper rifle, etc) take quite some time to get, if you get the molds to craft one.

Many people in the community have over 500 hours in the game. There are frequent restarts due to the nature of Alpha development, and random world generation keeps it fresh.

i play this game, because it can't be 'beaten'
-it's an immersive, ongoing survival struggle (i play SP)
-you keep exploring, looting, killing, crafting, building
-it's a creative sandbox, in wich you keep surviving constant zombie spawns

crucial about this 7DTD is:
-via options, you can tweak the difficulty during your current game
-i use this to start easy, until i have a base and weapons, then tweak difficulty up

all players can choose their own playstyle and challenge this way
