Picking up storage chests(filled)
I understand they may be heavy and akward when filled, but why cant we pick them up? If I can pick up a whole couch I think I should be able to pick up a heavy secured chest. Maybe just one at a time, but you cant use the items inside while carrying this? I just want this option when we are moving bases, rooms.

people wont build bases then, just keep everything stored on their body. would be great for a bandit/raider.
this is by design that you cannot, they wont change that man, but however, I think they are working on backpacks in alpha 10, which might increase storage inventory.

Yea for sure, and i wouldnt want to make it cheesy. Thats why i was thinking that while you are carrying it,you cant use any of the items in the chest or add any more to it. You could only pick them up and put em down, just a thought. I cant wait for Alpha 10.

It should be like LiF. When you pick up objects (on your back), it makes you snail speed. So it'll be possible to move it around in the base but not so good idea to go out since it'll take 1 min to advance 5 blocks.

What about a piano trolley to carry it or the back seat of a car or a drag behind trailer.

I think it would be fine if it slowed you down to a really slow walk while carrying the chest. Lot's of times I've wanted to move base or rearrange my base but it's such a pain to do. I like the idea.

Needs a new item (taken from minecraft jabba mod) a "Dolly" which attaches to whatever you want to move (via a mouse click while holding it) ..slows you down while (attached to another block) in inventory (mouse click to place while holding it)... this could be hard to code as it would have to hold a items inventory...and have some type of tag to tell the game when to slow player down and when not too would also need a blacklist of blocks it cannot effect or a whitelist whatever is shorter.. I am not aware of any status effect that slows you down other then stun... so this is probally quite far away... i cannot see this happening till a weight based slowdown system is in effect...

I think its a good idea, provided you have to carry it outside of your inventory, at a very very slow pace (as in moving it around a few close rooms rather than location to location), and only the person who built the chest can move it.

As far as I know there are no plans for a weight based slowdown system.
