Which tool's are best for breaking things?
Claw hammer and axe for wood maybe? What about steel doors?
Thanks in advance. :)

use augster and chainsaw as they are the fastest way to destroy .. welll... everything. You just need to find it and get some gas cans and voila! , there you have it.

Auger and chainsaw...for obvious reasons...
Valkyr Jan 7, 2015 @ 8:17am
I've never even seen those tools, xD.
Are they in multiplayer mode?
Eedrah Jan 7, 2015 @ 8:23am
Well yes, but they are very rare, and if you're playing on a populated server that has been going for a while, chances are somebody has found them all before you...

But to answer your question properly, yes, I usually use a pickaxe to break down all materials made out of stone or metal, and a fireaxe for all wood. it seems to be more efficient....

Well, since augers and chainsaws are really rare I'll post something that could be useful to you, sir.
Axes for wood: Doors, trees, walls...etc.
Pickaxes for hard objects: Stone, big rocks, metal doors, concrete...etc.
Shovels for soft materials: Dirt, sand, clay...etc.

If a door is upgraded with scrap metal use the pickaxe to break it until you're in the wood layer, then use the axe and so on.

For breaking use the tools below.
(Starter - Tier 1) Stone Axe - Wood, Rock, Metal, Dirt
(Better - Tier 2) Fire Axe - Wood
(Better - Tier 2) Pick Axe - Stone, Metal
(Better - Tier 2) Shovel - Dirt
(Better - Tier 2) Hoe - Grass, Farming tool
(Best - Tier 3) Auger - Stone, Metal, Dirt
(Best - Tier 3) Chainsaw - Wood

All of the above will break other block types but will not be best at breaking them. Example: Pick Axe... you can break dirt with it but I would not waist the swings.

For repairing use the tools below.
(4 hits to upgrade) Stone Axe
(3 hits to upgrade) Wrench
(2 hits to upgrade) Claw Hammer
(1 hit to upgrade) Nailgun

All tools are best found in the new Hardware Stores or Cars (both maps Navsgain or Random Gen). Garage Storage boxes used to be a location as well but they are rare and even more rare to spawn a tool.

Auger and Chainsaw are fast, but very noisy and will attract zombies/create more "heat", I believe. I don't tend to use them unless I'm in that much of a hurry and I've yet to feel a need. :)

Pickaxe for stone/metal blocks, metal doors, and mining.
Fireaxe for wood/trees/wood doors.
Shovel and hoe, as above.

No one ever mentions the sledgehammer, or oil drums :)

I tried the sledgehammer on trees and doors once. It feels slow to swing. Didn't like it that much. But it did break stuff ok. :)

Didn't know you could use oil drums, outside of making gas cans. That would be funny, probably.

You use them like your in a michael bay movie. Thats how :)

Auger and Chainsaw are much more easier to find now, stack yourself up with enough food, drinking and coffee for days and just run along streets (where no one has been before if public server). JUST loot the cars and if you find a gas station just take the oil barrels with you.
I do this everytime i´m borred and as the map is infinite you´ll find always untouched cars, we found 4 chainsaws, 2 augers and 4 nailguns in three of this runs. If you´r lucky you´ll even find a parking lot or sth like that where you can loot 10+ cars at once. I usually have got 2x64 baked potatoes, 2x15 golden rod tea and 2x15 coffee with me for such a trip, after ~19.00 i stop at the next building i find to spend the night.

That REALLY depends on the game settings BTW. IE: our servers loot is set to 60%.

That´s absolutly right, i was referring to standard settings which should be Loot Abundance 100% if i´m right.

You are sir.

Or you can simply add your own recipes to craft an auger or chainsaw (or use one of those available on the 'net).

No-one has yet mentioned TNT. Best for getting through walls next to the doors.

I call it "can't be ar$ed so lets have a blast" :-)
