Bury your beds!
Bury your beds! seriously...

I was playing 7DTD today when the phone rang, I figured I was safe in my base and everything was quiet, so I went AFK. I answered the phone and was on it about 20 minutes. When I came back to the game, nothing had changed except my hunger and thirst bars were about 1/5 of the way from full. I took one step from my bed, broke my leg and died. I guess my character had been partially one/off the bed so the game decided I had been falling the whole time. If you bury the bed/bedroll whatever under the floor of your base you can't fall off it, but you retain a spawn point. 2245 zombies killed and I die by falling out of bed, fix your game pimps.

Have you been able to repeat this bed behavior? If it's not repeatable then the cause may have nothing to do with the bed at all.

There are definitely some odd "edge of object" type leg-breaking bugs, but try to repeat the process reliably. If you can, then post it in the bugs section, as being able to repeat a bug helps TFP track down the cause.

For instance, if I have a tunnel down into the ground, and there is a ladder going down it, the ladder will stick up a bit at the top edge because the ground curves down a bit. I can "catch" myself against that edge pretty reliably and it tends to break my leg or kill me. As such, I use square blocks for ladders so there won't be that edge, but because it's repeatable, it will help TFP to debug the problem.

In the meantime, I just adapt.

It sucks to be old.

How many blocks between the floor and ceiling? Were you crouching?

Maybe you have not noticed, but a massive amount of broken legs stories radiate around bedrolls. It's a massive correlation. Correlation may not equal causation, but there is hella correlation.

I haven't read all the broken leg stories. There's just too many of them. :)

I'm not saying it ISN'T a problem with the bed/bedroll. Just suggesting that confirming a repeatable bug with specific actions would probably be helpful to TFP.

I have to admit, I tend to not stand right on my bedroll/bed, but I'm going to try it out and see if I can get it to happen. (which it sounds like I probably can).

I do agree that there are some icky collision/intersection bugs right now. Those can sometimes be REALLY tricky to debug though, so please do have some patience. :)

Everyone should bury their crappy beds/mattresses anyway and put one of the nice ones from the apartments in . I wish there was another way to indicate "home" in this game.

OT: Sprained/Broken legs are common in this version for some odd reason. Hope it gets fixed in A12

if you place a bedroll in an area 2 blocks high, walking on it will "squish" you (your view might even tilt).. weird stuff happens when you're squished..

"weird stuff happens when you're squished.."

Much rofling was had when i read this.

But yeah, since we can now fit into 1 block high spaces when crouched and then get hurt when attempting to stand, something weird is going on.

It is a bug introduced recently... I have broken legs on sleeping bags, inside POI tents, running off stairs, etc. The community is aware of it, not sure if the Devs are?

This is a well-known bug. I'm one of many who've broken their legs respawning on their bed/bedroll. Which, of course, just adds injury to the insult of dying.

And another super-common bug is the invisible plane/cargo drop.

And there is the hunting bug which seems to come-and-go. I've had it, but it seems to have cleared up now that I don't hunt in stealth mode with a crossbowl but just use a hunting rifle.

So, yes, it's a bug. One of many.

Hunting bug is an easy one to work around.

Basically what happens if you do NOT loot a particular item from an animal corpse, it will stop appearing on all corpses after that until you restart. For instance, if you leave a bone on an animal corpse, bones will stop appearing in all corpses of that type (until you restart).

Easy workaround is to take everything off of an animal corpse. If you don't want it just drop it on the ground.

I haven't checked to see if the same thing happens with items on zombies or not.
