ive watched a friend on our MP server fall from max height(168 voxels) without dying.
since A11 dropped ive died from a 1 voxel fall.
there is no "set in stone" answer for you.
1 - Without a broken leg, with max HP at 100 wellness, You can pretty much survive a fall from any height. Which is really silly...
2 - If you already have a broken leg, fall damage seems to be different. You can die from a fall from about 10 block high. But it is not consistent.
Also, walking on a rabbit and top ladder block that emerge from the ground, among others, can sometimes result in "very unpredictable and illogical" leg breaking and fatal fall damage...
So basically when I design a pit, I never know if the enemy player will survive. But putting in spikes heightens the kill-chance (in case they break a leg and stay at 1 hp, the spike will finish them off on the next tick).
