Zombies Shouldn't Climb Ladders.
I'm not sure how everyone else feels about this, but I really feel that zombies should not be able to climb up ladders.
There's a lot of small things I'd like to see added to the game, I'm REALLY loving this so far!! But zombies climbing up ladders to come after me is the only big major thing I've seen at this point that just did not make sense to me. lol

I would guess that the ladder takes more then a "Zombie" can coordinate being dead stiff and broken........ BUT, seeing as these ARE CALL infected they can do ANYTHING that TFP wish them to do....
Just wastch the 28 Days movies lol

If this is a prob for you there are many way you can deal with it, you can frame block the hole, remove and replace the ladder when needed Ect.... :)

Neither should players with broken legs.
So do zombies, so what's the point?

They have fingers too, doubt they will be using guns anytime soon though.

I don't mind zombies using ladders, but dogs on the other hand... lol.

Not sure what movie is was, but zombies were using guns and driving vehicles. Resident evil I think?
There is a setting in the entityclasses.xml that allows you to prevent zombies from climbing ladders.

<property name="CanClimbLadders" value="true" />

Change true to "false", zombies shouldn't climb ladders anymore on your server/game.

You're welcome :)

Why would you want to do this anyway when you can just craft hatches and place them at the top of ladders?.. They can't break them open.

Kinda defeats the purpose of living in a dangerous world if you can just camp on a roof from safety, that's not what the developers intentions are.

Logically speaking, or "thinking realistically" (atleast according to most Z-lore), I'll agree that the zeds shouldn't be able to climb ladders.

BUT A) from a gameplay standpoint, removing their ability to do so -by default- would make things too easy and B) you can personally remove their ability to do so by removing (or not placing) the ground-level piece of ladders.

This.

It's a genuine gameplay decision, not a realism one. You still have the choice to disable them from climbing ladders though, read my first post OP.

To those saying 'If zombies can't climb, theres no challange', you realize you get the same effect from removing the ladder, right? You can still camp on a building. The zombies will just demolish anything you're on, and you'll come crashing down, eventually.

Not with spider zeds..........

Technically, a 'zombie' shouldn’t even be able to walk; consider the complexity and coordination required in human movement-- you lean forward and begin to fall, plant a lead foot and use the momentum to lever yourself forward. This may seem simple after doing it a hundred thousand times... but the physics are really rather complex. I’m not sure what makes a zombie a zombie (used to be undead, but their capacities dictate otherwise), but I had thought that at the very least higher brain function would be largely lacking (both conscious and subconscious).

Then again, the zombies in 7DTD can also feel (they cry out when wounded), have functional olfactory and auditory systems, and discriminatory tastes in sustenance (they only eat certain foods, and then only certain preparations—ham and eggs anyone?). They also seem to possess a highly developed prefrontal cortex that allows them to socially work together with other zombies to achieve a tactical goal based upon deductive observation while adjusting for environment. Again, having all five senses and warm blood (snow biome zeds never freeze), an argument can be made that these aren’t really zombies—just jerks that run around dressing alike and randomly attacking people.

On the other hand… it’s only a game. :-)

I don't see the issue in climbing a ladder without using legs. Yeah, its not as easy, but people in at least average shape can climb even a rope without using their legs. I think they should be able to climb them, just not at the speed of light like they do now.

Perhaps that's the best response so far. I'm especially thinking of the normal, slow moving, daytime zombies. soon as they touch a ladder it's like I'm being chased by a regular person... then once they reach the top, it's back to normal creeper mode zombie. Once it's night time and they're running all over the place then I can totally see them rushing up a ladder or whatever the case, I guess I just think it needs some tweaking at very least.

I get that they should move a little slower on the ladder, but you could still move faster than they do by holding the shift key so it will be like you are rushing up the ladder.

Zombies have brains. Yes, their brain functions have been lowered to below primative levels, but just as a bug or reptile is lacking in intelligence, they still have the ability to move and chase down what they consider food. Movement is a complex system, however even the simplest of brains can manage it.

How are these not zombies? The only real thing we have to go off of regarding zombies, is that they search for food and eat any living thing they can get their hands on excluding their own kind.

maybe we should just remove zombies completely from the game.

remove the bottom rung on a ladder = no zombies climbing.....easy stuff
