Lost all my gear, I'm seriously bummed out.
So I was playing 7D2D, and I was pretty psyched because I finally found a coal deposit. I had a flawless axe, flawless pick axe, flawless shovel, flawless pistol with every part flawless, and I had been farming those fat cop zombies to get ammo so I had a ton. I had just got done crafting a new stack of crossbow bolts, and had 3 stacks of bricks I made, along with a stack of concrete.

There's a big storm going on outside, and my house loses power for an instant. I turn the pc back on, fire up the game, and my inventory is wiped clean. I am seriously bummed out right now.

A bit expensive, but I use a UPS, just for that purpose. We get a lot of lightning glitches, so it gives me more than enough time to power everything down till the storms pass.

Are you saying the game deleted all your inventory and left you underground, with nothing, where you were when the power went out; or that you played for a really long time without saving and the game just restored your last save, where you had none of those things. Anyway, sorry for the loss, but saving is as easy as hitting esc and quit, then continue.
Hmm, it sounds to me like your game didn't save?.. Is this a single player save? If so, i'm assuming the game doesn't save until you exit.

To mitigate this, run a dedicated server with a password. This will save you the hassle (no pun intended) of ever losing a save as the game world saves anytime you interact or do anything on the server. You shouldn't have to mess with any port forwarding ect unless you want friends to join your game.

Yeah it was SP. What happened is I was in a cave and ended up dying. I respawned, gathered my gear from my backpack, and continued playing for probably 40 minutes. Then the power went out.

When I turned on the game, it had spawned me where I had died, the icon for the backpack was there, but the backpack wasn't, so my inventory was cleaned out, and the backpack was missing, so everything I had was gone.

I've gotten most of the things I lost back from heading to the city and looting the stores again, just set me back a couple hours work. What really hurt was the loss of my auger and my gasoline that I had a ton of.

There is a way to cheat and restore your stuff... enable cheat mode in game settings, use ~ and then /dm and press U to bring up all tiles. You might have to restart your game a few times, but eventually you'll get randomly get flawless pickaxe etc. from the creative menu. Once you've restored your stuff, turn off cheat mode and restart. Of course you'll need discipline to not keep cheating..

I have died several times in caves, from a gravel train, and my backpack was not there, Might be a bug, Good for me though, I was fairly low level and had no really great equipment anyway. This was before I learned my lesson about overhead mining.

Gravel destroying backpacks is not a bug it is intention. Something really heavy fell on it it makes sense that everything got destroyed in the backpack as well as the backpack.

Well if your doing a survival world should only spawn stuff back if you got bugged and lost all your stuff from the bug like a falling threw the world, World disappearing and Etc. Then it isn't your fault it was the games so it isn't cheating to respawn what you had back.

Creative gameplays is a different story you spawn things to create and have a different kind of fun not involving survival.

You don't need to restart to get new quality rolls. Just hit Esc and then U again.

Hi lateraliss,

An even better way to save your game if playing SP is to pop your console open and then type either one of these and enter.

CMD:
saveworld sa

That way you can save your game on the fly whilst you play, plus you dont have to leave the game in any way,

I use it all the time when in game,
Once i have a fair bit on me then thats a good time to save.

It will also tell you in the console whether it saved.

Cheers

It only saves on exit unless you know the debug mode command to force a save.

Are you sure it is exit, because you can load up a new save, or continue, after hitting quit to main menu, and not exit to desktop. I just want to be sure my game is saved.

Hi buzzard23,

If you note my post a few threads up you'll have all you need in terms of saving whilst in game.

Basically,
Open up the console and type either one of these CMD's and press enter, then close the console, you will see in the console if it saves with a message.

CMD:
saveworld
sa

EDIT :
Depending on keyboard the ~ key is the one to open the console in game,
However for me it is above my TAB key, Below my ESCAPE key, and to the left of my no 1 key the button with 3 characters on it "¬`¦ "
