Double spiral staircase
This goes from just under my house on top of a mountain all the way down to bedrock.

This goes from just under my house on top of a mountain all the way down to bedrock. 5 or 6 spirals I think. It took me about a week.

That is excellent work.

If you kept the stone you probably had a bajillion stacks after all that effort.

I've been using it everywhere and I have also been making concrete like mad, but I still have 3 boxes full.

Oh, anyone who wants to give this a try I'll let you know how it works. Layout an area you want the stairs dig down one level and to make a platform right down the middle and add stairs at the ends pointed away from each other like is: _|-- (Imagine the dotted line at the top.). I made mine 2 blocks wide just like my stairs. Anytime you get to a wall under the first row make sure you go under the stairs above you so you don't loose width and have the spiral collapse inward. As you can see in the stairs are sitting on a ledge of rock with nothing under it. Just take it one level at a time placing the stairs correctly and making sure that at each level the stairs match up with each other.

I love it, nice work.

Makes me dizzy. :-) I have thought of doing something along these lines... Its a lot of work though.. and yes.. I would get dizzy and suffer vertigo.

AsianGirlLover asked if I had water at the bottom on one of the screenshots. I thought this was a cool idea so I added water two layers thick and jumped. The distance was too great. I survived but broke my leg. I added a third layer of water and made the jump for a perfect landing. Very cool!

Opinions differ on water depth but i usually play it safe and have at least two layers or more if i'm planning a project with a very high fall.
