I saw the shotgun looking just fine, but the AR was terrible
Not actually debating with you, but if you want a realistic weapons simulator, shouldn't you be looking into games like Weapons Simulator store.steampowered.com/app/1860370/Weapons_Simulator/ instead of a zombie survival arcade-ish game?
I think the vast majority of players don't care about this and 'works' as-is. I've actually never heard or seen any of my friends who have played this game (far longer than I have) who actually uses and owns guns in real life, complain about this being an issue.
I just really appreciate the effort some devs put into their game to make it look "realistic".
I can solve it by using mods, I would just prefer not to.
oh my god what a tired take. Ermmmm if you didnt want to rain every day in game, shouldnt you be looking into games like Weather Simulator?
Yawnnnnnnnn tired attempt to be edgy.
OP has a point the guns suck and being from TX and NE youd presume Joel and Richard are well versed in that regard but, alas. The pistol still aims up at the sky when the crosshair is pointing straight.
Youre right it doesnt impact the core gameplay loop. I'm right in that having 10 years to remedy the garbage is long enough and its still not done. Regardless of how impactful it was.
Crazy a sincere question is interpreted as an "attempt to be edgy". Did you not read the OP's response to my question? At the very least, he answered sincerely without attacking me in any way. The OP asked for gun realism. 7DTD is an arcade-style zombie survival shooter-esque game. If I didn't want rain to happen inside 7DTD, I would mod it. Why would I play a weather simulator?
Thanks for the sincere response and unlike the other person, did not attack my question. ♥
To respond to your comment however, this game isn't meant for such realism. If it did, the cars would use better physics, and constructing buildings wouldn't be so tedious. ;) It'll probably be even more tedious than it is now.
Alas, not trying to argue with personal preferences. In a perfect development world, developers would give players all sorts of options to toggle on and off. That way, players who prefer a more realistic approach to combat would use them, and those that don't can toggle them off, or adjust a scale of sorts.
Which mods do you use to 'fix' this issue? Perhaps you can share it, so others can use it in their game?
This game is far from garbage.
Yeah sure!

Also a few months back there was a dedicated "disable crosshair mod"
But I think this one mod that does it all hits the right nerve for people who enjoy a little realism and immersion, even in a "fantasy horror" setting.
Cheers!
"Bad" would mean almost every player who bought 7DTD would complain the mechanic is 'bad'. The OP even stated they don't like the way it is because of A) personal preference and B) he's used to handling gun and gun equipment like red dots and riflescopes. Personally, I have no issues with it, nor does any of my friends, including my wife who has played this game. Our primary complaint on this game is overall optimization, and construction funsics as opposed to construction physics. However, as I have stated in my second response to OP, ultimately, it would be nice to have options for players who prefer a more realistic approach and for others who prefer a more arcade approach.
Either way, there are mods for that and the OP has provided a possible mod to 'fix' this issue. I gave him a 'wholesome' award for his non-aggressive response, as it was both helpful and understandable as a fellow player. He is NOT wrong in his opinion. We just very slightly disagree with each other - nothing to foam at the mouth over. More like some friendly banter over snacks. ^_^ Hence, I wasn't trying to debate with him.
