Steam workshop still missing
Why isnt the game still not functional with steam workshop?
Id rather download mods from workshop where I know they are not malicious. Have very little trust in sites like nexusmods etc. since they are so poorly managed.

How hard is it to get the support for workshop, come on devs! Youve gone so far.

Basically, it boils down to: The devs will not implement Workshop until the game is finished (or mostly finished) being developed. Reason is there's too many core changes to game from on major Alpha to the next--which tends to break mods. Then the Workshop would constantly be filled with a bunch of broken mods that the authors neglect to update.

If you're going to be clueless, please don't be snarky. How hard is it to do that? Come on, gamers!

That I did remember reading but thinking the 1.0 is here and still no workshop? just bit silly.

1.0 does not mean finished game. It is just to make it easier for them to release a console version of the game which will mirror the PC version. For what ever reason calling it alpha 22 does will not work for consoles.

Hey i found the rare other person that understands the 1.0 is probably and mostly to get it out on console. Read tape makes it complex to release a EA game on console.

I just try to interpret what the devs has told us. :p I hope I understand it correctly.

Workshop addition is literally on the road map...

xDDD... That was many many many long years that I use nexusmods for +100 games & I never get a single virus&co... & also workshop mods can have virus&co even if Steam said is safe...

& no, it's Steam workshop who have a poorly managed where there's so many trash mods where +90% is useless (& I don't talk about that there's old mods).

Yes, Nexus website is one of the few 'very' trustworthy places to get mods. They have pretty good system in place to eliminate any mod upload that contains malicious code in it. I've NEVER downloaded a mod from them that had a virus... and I've been using Nexus for many many years. Other sites I'm pretty leary about and always do a bunch of code scans on downloads... first being my browser virus scanning before even attempting to download, then Windows built in virus scanning during download and finally, a manual virus scan with a stand alone Anti-virus software app. I actually do this with all downloads. Never found a bad one from Nexus.

I usually use the 7 days to die mods site for 7DTD mods, but I've also used Nexus. I've been using Nexus since I started modding. I've even given them money. Never a problem, from either site.

Steam workshop is a mediocre mod manager with some significant drawbacks. I don't understand why some people consider it such a big thing, especially for 7DTD as that doesn't even need a mod manager nor does it benefit much from one. Is it just fashion? Fashion is weird.

I think a lot of people just aren't very comfortable with modding games and like the simplicity of simply subscribing to mods in workshop--it automatically installs it for the game. Or, Mod Managers which are easier to use... if you can select the mods from a list in the manager. Modding isn't hard ofc (imo) if you do a little reading / research. I prefer manually modding personally. I go read up on a mod and it's instructions for use anyway so, may as well do it manually and be sure everything is going in it's correct place. That's just me though.

Workshop is coming when development is finished. Makes sense.
By the times the Workshop is added, if ever, I'll be like 35. Plus, the Workshop is full of broken, neglected mods. As stated before, the Workshop only works if people choose to continuously update their mods every time it is needed. The problem is many authors don't do this because it is simply too much work to try and keep everything up to date. It's mostly a time issue for most people. A lot of us have lives to live and we can't just put aside everything to work on a game that we're only partially dedicated to. Our lives are more important to us. Sorry if you expect everything to be perfect. That's not how life works.
