Request: Spray Paint or Chalk for Marking Buildings
I play mostly random SP and I'm always forgetting which buildings I've already looted. Great job on this game - I'm nearly 1200 hours in!

Lootables respawn depending on the settings so having marked them will not work unless you tag them with the game day you searched it. I think spray painting is better for PVP though. As you build your PVP clan you could mark the building with your clan tag to let other players know they are not on their own turf.

i find that building a new door that doesnt fit with the building lets me know i searched it. example a simple wooden door on a dept store yea ive been there. or carry some cinder blocks with you and place one in the door way blocking it and letting you know you have been there

Spray paint would be nice. I'd add more, being able to set and name points of interest on the map.

Marking like that does not tell you when you were there(What game day) & when to recheck the bldg. I have respawns on every 3 days so I would like to have the spray paint & mark the game day I looted it. I usualy do a grid search of the town & when I leave the town I know it is empty. I know that after 3 days the town can be looted again.

Agreed. I actually requested that last year, haha!

I always play with respawn off. And even when I'm going from house to house in MP and get distracted, it's hard to remember which ones I've been to. It will be even more useful once there's more variety to the POI's.

I think that is fine for sp but in RGW you need that respawn for the endless number of players that might join the game so they can find a lootable item instead of an empty one.

This has been asked for since way back when, and that was also why they invented the different storage crates - back then the main reason for wanting spray paint cans or the like was to mark crate contents and suchlike.

The way I mark houses that I've searched is by leaving a cloth block (can't remember it's exact name) outside. You can stick it on the wall near the door, out of reach of any swinging zed. Quick and simple - and there's no end of cloth about, so no shortage of material to do it, either.

I do a grid search on the town & always enter the same way, busting down the front door. If I continue the search I know it is looted it if the front door is missing. My respawn after 3 days have gone by my search is done through the back door. If is a garage I go through the door & my second search is through the garage door or wall if is a shack.

I play co-op with a friend and we usually just put a candle or torch on buildings we have already searched.

Would be a great addition anyway. Check out how creative people in rust got after they got the ability to paint! (No I don't own it)

doing a spray paint tag kinda like in L4D2 would be awesome

putting in your own artwork ... it would have to upload the "tag" file when you long in and store it so others could see it

or could just go with stock pics ...

i put a torch next to the door or break something in a pattern zombies couldn't do. ie 4th block up missing, zig zag in steps

I'm a wooden frame marker too, just leave one on the road out front. If its been 7 days, just add another box. That's Random SP though, greifers in MP would just swipe your boxes, probably. Some kind of paint would be nice, but if they introduce decals it'll just be dickbutwithbewbs everywhere. Torch/candle is a good idea, doesn't that get laggy after a while though?
