If you are just hosting a game for a few people, that game is saved on the host computer..
Go to Start -> My Documents -> 7 Days To Die -> Saves -> [Random or Navez] -> [Game Name] -> Player..
In that folder you will find .ttp files, one for each person. If you navigate up a folder from there you'll see a players.xml file that may help you crosswalk who is who based on their last login time. This seems to be the file containing the "character" - skin/inventory/level/etc. You could try to drop that into the new game save. I am not sure if the file names will "jive" with the new world. In any case, you could crosswalk them as specified above and just rename them to the numbers in the new game after you crosswalk those as well.
My guess is this should work as I was tinkering around testing out some things related to another bug.
I have a friend and it takes him like 7 hours to get to level 60 when the rest of us are at like 20 lol
