Are you leaving the area completely? I've had trees/crops not grow if I went too far away from where they were placed.

Also, but you probably know this, some plants need fertile ground, many regular trees and corn, etc do not need it.

Trees are taking much longer to grow then before, and my other plants are taking way way too long to grow now. I can't find the file to change it somy second best solution is to increase the number of seeds I get so that when they finally do grow I can replant about the same number as the old rate.

growth rates are in blocks.xml

have you adjusted the time? I know on servers if you plant a tree on day 5,, and the server goes down and restarts on day one, that tree wont start to grow again untill it hits day 5 again. Same with crops and container respawns.

Good point Roadie.
As Roadie points out that would make a lot of difference.

It says "GrowthRate" value=60 does that mean 60 in game hrs? Does a higher number mean it grows faster or will a lower number do that? Like if it was a percent so value=200 would be 200% faster rate?

To Be Honest I am not sure what the measurement value is against now as it has changed. I believe a higher number means slower, but have not tested on recent versions.

Thanks for replay, I belive you might be right higher means slower, not sure if the number is ampunt of game hrs or percent though.

Only one way to find out. Put it at 1 & see how fast or how slow it'll grow.

Version1, PC, I just planted over 500 trees in the wasteland far away from my base. They are not growing at all. However, when I planted 100 near my base, they grew in 3 days. I suggest keeping the number to 100 in an area for planting, anything more than that seems to cause issues :) For reference sake, Main town is less than 1k away, there is a lot of debris in the wasteland, 5 rows of 100 each, all separated by 7 blocks each. Just don't grow, over 50 days now of the plants just sitting there.

not exactly the same but had a base at wasteland border. all the trees i planted grew, but the ones planted in wasteland never grew taller than the "mid" size, while the ones on patches of green grew to full size. figured its supposed to be like that, since its a wasteland.

Not sure I've seen an older necro thread. One trick for growing trees in biomes not suited for that type of tree is to place a block of Dirt on the ground and plant the tree on the Dirt. Works every time I've tried it, but I rarely plant more than 8 trees.
