Is there a better way to get potassium nitrate?
What the title says...Can you only get them in stalagtites? Or can you get them in deposits? Cuz theres an abundance of iron, and coal ore but potassium has become ultra rare in A11

I have more potassium from deposits in caves than I know what to do with. Might just be my seed, but they are thick with it. Coal is the rare one I think for many people. I had to hit 12-15 caves before I found coal.

Sweet, thx Jaga. I guess ill keep looking in other caves for some

I found a deposite of potassium and a depost of coal right befor that. They were not even that far into the cave. After I processed half of it into gunpowder I had about 1200 units of powder.

So yeah, just keep looking and you'll have gun powder for life, haha.

Every single cave i've been in has had multiple deposites of iron, coal, and potassium nitrate ores. Follow the gravel, it will not lead you astray, lol.

Is there potasium nitrate under the nuked city? Seems like there never has been has that changed? I like to make my base in the city but digging down I never find potasium nitrate, so im forced to make my base outside the city.

I think most deposits of Ores are now in Caves, I used to Build a Base in or close to a City, but with 0 day spawning now " Zombies 24/7 " its not wise to live in the City, I now might spend a day or two in a City looting and sleeping in a safe Building, then Build my Base just far enough out that you dont get the City Zombies attacking non stop.

I've been blown away by the absurd amount of ore under the church in my current game. Enough, iron, coal, lead and potassium nitrate to last until alpha 20. It just never seems to end - every vein branches off into two or three more.

yeah caves. lead and pottasium everywhere. coal is a rarity in this random gen
FiGi Apr 16, 2015 @ 3:35am
u dont need to go deep to get potassium, stalactites give potasium. they r at the enterance of every cave.

Where do you even find caves? 14 days of wandering, not a single cave found :(
btw is it true that now you get ore only from caves? I mean digging like before is pointless?

If you are playing the Navesgane map, then you won't be getting any caves so ores will still be found by just digging into the ground.

If you are in random gen, then caves are the little black spots on your map when you search a biome. From what I have seen, caves have a tendency to spawn towards the edges of the biomes.

Coal is abundant in the burnt wastelands - just hack up the fires. It takes a bit more effort, but it's coal ;-)

screw caves.. I don't really get why TFP is forcing us into them

change "caves" to "all" in biomes.xml:
<resource blockname="ironOre" cluster="1" prob="0.1" rwgGenerationType="all" /> <resource blockname="coalOre" cluster="1" prob="0.1" rwgGenerationType="all" /> <resource blockname="potassiumNitrate" cluster="1" prob="0.1" rwgGenerationType="all" /> <resource blockname="leadOre" cluster="1" prob="0.1" rwgGenerationType="all" /> <resource blockname="gravel" cluster="2" prob="0.1" rwgGenerationType="all" />

ofc, won't work for map chunks already generated.

btw - after that post above, I went down a cave and found tons of pot-nat and a huge amount of coal! So it is there - was in the roof in mine - just a couple of blocks wide, but very deep into the rock above.

Spoiler alert:
To easily find caves, run around the edges of biomes and watch your overhead map. The entrances appear as small black circles (or darker circles). Frequently they are clumped 2-3 near each other.
