Wood spikes or Wood Log spikes?
I have a little question, like the title says. Well i have little house/fort built and now i want a spike defence, but I'm not sure whats better, the wood spikes or the twice upgraded wood log spiked.
2 criteria:
a) How much damage do they deal?
b)How long do they hold?
Thanks :)

The wood spikes deal a lot of damage, but they brake really fast, the upgraded wood log spikes deal less damage, but they are very though to brake.
I always prefer the upgraded wood log spikes, but several rows.

Both are better in their own par. Wood Spike definitely Hurt more, but can break easy and needs to be replaced, But are Cheap to make.
log Spikes does Over time damage in small increments, plus can pin or pause a victim to a target Spike for a bit to do more damage , but not so much. however, when fully upgraded, they can last almost forever, and are nearly impossible to break. i like to use a combination of both. Like the Wood spikes directly against the building followed by 4 block thick rows of small spikes, with extra small spikes in storage.. i find it to be effective, plus if you dig a 5 block deep trench and 2 wide and lay the floor with log spikes 2 rows surrounding you're place.. i think you would like the results. ;)

You can remove the wood spikes or repair them with sticks and the wood log spikes can be destroyed or upgraded. it costs sticks to make wood spikes but logs to make log wood spikes. If I were you I would do a little demonstration of your own and place log wood spikes in one area and wood spikes in another area and see which ones do the better job. IMO log wood spikes win everytime.

Many many rows of log spikes.

2 rows of log wood spikes, fully upgraded with scrap iron, is, in my experience, more than enough to do the job.

you should have a 2 wide metal trussing walkway(zombie lip) at least 3 voxels above the spikes that you can shoot through(crossbow bolts dont fire through). then carry stinky food on your belt and just walk back and forth on the walkway, dragging the zombies below you back and forth on the spikes untill they die. if they are chasing you they wont be hitting on your base walls.

please note, that currently there is a bug with Log wood spikes that iff they are detroyed, the space they were in will not allow anything to be placed in that voxel untill you dump a bucket of water there.

Ok, and would do you guys say about adding cobwebs to the whole sistem, to slower them down. I found that while destr5oying chests, first they will degrade to "(untouched)" and then have a few cobwebs in them... So what you think about wood log spikes+cobwebs? :)

I have that problem with cobbelstone walls, but after destroying that block 3 times, it actually really breaks, but remains invisible before that.

Wood Log Spikes do 3, 6 and 10 damage. Also they last forever (Unless a zombie manages to break one, never seen that happen though).

I have a trench around my house with 2 rows of log spikes, then 2 rows of dirt (For looting whatever dies next to the wall)) and then another 2 rows of log spikes. So basically (W = wall, S = log spike, D = dirt):

WSSDDSSDD...

Cross section looks something like (I = iron bar):
W
I
W
WSSDDSS
WDDDDDD

Zombies sink to the log spikes and takes little to no effort to kill everything (Well ferals and cops only. Rest is waste of ammo) with headshots.

Use a tool to repair the invisible cobblestone wall then use cobblestone rocks to "refill" it.

Yeah i know that one :) think i'm used to invisible stuff. But does anyone have any experience with cobbwebs?

ive messed with them a little. other than putting them at the bottom of a long ladder they are pretty useless.
if you want the Zs to slow down on your spikes, dig a 2 deep trench, fill with spikes, then cover with water.

So cobwebbs don't slow Zbs down?

they do, but i think they can get in the way of repairs you may have to make from time to time.
i know others have issues working with water, but ive fooled with it quite abit and once you figure it out, its much easier to work with.
plus it looks MUCH better.

Ouh.. would you explain it to me? How it works with a water trench?

best advice is to line outer wall swiht log spikes.. vertically up the entire wall, trust me ;)
