Clean install

Uninstall the game through Steam, then close Steam
Find the 7DTD install folder "\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\7 Days to Die" and delete it.
Edit the registry with regedit, find the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\The Fun Pimps\7 Days To Die" key, click on it and delete it.
Run a tool like CCleaner to get rid of temp files, DNS entries, etc.
Find "ClientRegistry.blob" in Steam's folder (\Program Files (x86)\Steam), rename it to "ClientRegistry.blob.old"
Restart the computer
If you don't have any saves you care about, delete the "\My Documents\7DTD\" folder (or move it somewhere else like the Desktop)
Start Steam and reinstall the game
Enable vSync and triple buffering.
Increase your cache size.

If you have a older video card:
Once these steps are complete, force DX9 in steam:
Library> game> properties> set launch options> type in: -force -d3d9

The above solution has a high chance of fixing the following:
- weird pixellated trees
-stuttering
-low framerates.
-many startup issues
-Odd terrain generation
-Broken leg syndrome (unconfirmed)
-Zombies through doors (unconfirmed)
-Ladder launching (unconfirmed)
the clean install MIGHT work for some but is NOT an end all fix.
Its the game which is STILL in a state of being developed and DOES have issues.
Sometimes your hardware or PC will not matter.

and i dont know if it could be called a HIGH chance since theres no real way to calculate if it WORKED really for most users.

a few posts here or there does not just mean the majority of EVERYONE.

Their is something wrong with the Fun Pimps code, obviously.

Whoever denies that are just butt-sucking up to them and don't want to admit it.

My friend has a Beast Gaming PC and he only just managed 30-45 frames.

On Multiplayer I seem to get 60-80 frames, so their code is messed up.

To the devs:
Stop trying to add new things and make the graphics look better (which I don't care about) and actually fix your broken game.

Thanks!

I wouldnt say there ALL sucking up lol. Some Did really get lucky.

But yep there are issues even on a GREAT PC and if it goes rough and you have decent hardware i wouldnt pull your hair out over it.
just relax and hopefully as the builds come it gets better for you..

There still is ALOT of fun and they have done some pretty great stuff for an early build.
but for myself i dont put how a game looks upfront.

Framerate is uttmost to me but i still have had fun besides that nag.

If you are still getting FPS microstutter, you can try this:
  • Turn on Aero (if it was off)
  • Disconnect monitors not in use when gaming
  • Enable Vsync in your video driver control panel
  • Enable (force) Triple Buffering for DirectX apps (Use RadeonPro if needed)
  • Set render-ahead to ~3 in video control panel (RadeonPro can do this too)
  • Launch the game, make sure Vsync is enabled in video options area
  • Exit game, then launch it again
  • After loading your save, re-verify Vsync is turned on in options

Should eliminate your microstutter, and give consistently solid FPS.

You guys should just wait until they patch the game.

Your computer is not the problem here. They just need to finish what they started, and squish a few little bugs.

Next patch should have some better AI in it too, so it is well worth the wait.

i still think that ppl see the problem the wrong way, it's not the fps ( i have done everything jaga said even tough most stuff was allready turned on). the problem is the mouse, even with my mouse sense on 11 it stutters. my fps is perfectly fine, i have played over 400 hours on the old version without a single problem. and its not a small stutter but just a very big delay before the game react to your mouse.

ROFL Rectal-Spray are you not the guy who was hosing this game last week giving "PRO TIPS" on how to get a refund??????

ALPHA ALPHA ALPHA peeps.

The above tips from JAGA and Lenkdrache do work and yes maybe not for all. I have never had a problem on my modest comp by the standards of many posers on here (gtx 760, 8 gb ram, I-7 4770) but got the game working on my sons comp which is still 32 bit with 4 gb of ram and his runs fine now.

These things will get ironed out eventually. Let the Pimps stuff as much content into this thing first before they start optimizing.

The whole problem with PC gaming is 1,000,000 gamers, 1,000,000 rig setups.

Just stuffing more ram and bigger GPU's into a box does not make your computer better unless every component functions in harmony without a bottleneck being created somewhere.

The game for me and many others is stable enough to enjoy at present.

Wonder if alot of the people having difficulties with the broken legs stuttering etc are still trying to play old saves.

They switched the engine...it isnt as though this was JUST for the graphics.

Most of us who is having FPS issues and stuttering have good rigs. There's something broken in the code.

Although, they've already stuffed a ton of content already, they need to think about Optimizing their damn game. A game isn't enjoyable with lag, and people saying 'it's early-access'... Well, I've been waiting since 2013 for this to be Optimized and still nothing.

Dont expect a tremendous amount of optimizing until Beta.

I know it weren't 'JUST' for the Graphics, but that's the main thing that everyone seems to be interested in these days, which then triggers the Devs' to focus on the Graphical side.

Either way, they still need to fix the code.

I have been watching the development since Alpha 1...its a bit obvious graphics arent top priority here....

Sure, there are bugs, they fix them everyday...part of being a title still in Alpha Development.

Until Beta?

There has been so many Alphas, it's been 1.5 years since release, and yet they haven't done ANY optimization.

Who wants to play a game with a ton of lag?

No one I imagine...but not everyone does/is.

i like your little conversation, but i still can't play normaly. im normaly the one who never gets a single problem with a game just because i got a very damn good computer.

i don't use wifi ♥♥♥♥ and everything i use is with a cable to make sure that i have no delay in a game, my parts all work in harmonie.
beside of that i can always run games on max setting without a single problem, now i know that this is not a problem with my computer, but there is something wrong, since some ppl can play without a single problem and im normaly on their side and not on the problem side.

the clean instal and the stuff jaga said didnt work or i did something wrong, i don't care about little bugs or stuff thats normal for alpha and with 400 hours on this game is a proof that i know what alpha means.

It's cool - the devs are aware there are still hiccups and bugs that came with the engine upgrade. They'll sort it out in time.

I couldn't play for nearly an entire build myself, from the late 9's through 10.3. Wasn't until 10.4 that I could play again.. must have been 60 days total. That's just how Alphas go sometimes.
zantjez Apr 17, 2015 @ 11:50am
well the good thing is that i finaly managed to play normaly, just encounterd a new connection problem, still trying to figure that out :P
