Crossbow aim is a bit off or bugged?
It seems with the crossbow that on many shots it shoots a bit off to the right. If I aim dead on ill miss the target. If I pull it over to the left so the right hand -- is over the target ill hit. This isn't every shot but enough to be annoying. Also Ive done this at long distance and close up targets. Anyone else notice this?

Yep. The Crossbow is dead accurate, it's the 1st person model itself that moves off target. You have to switch the Crossbow with anything else then switch back to get the sight to recenter. If you feel like exploiting the game you can crouch to get a pin-point accurate sight tho.

It's a pretty lame bug.

I hope they bring a new hotfix soon to sort out some of this stuff...

Are you zooming in to shoot? If you shoot the crossbow "from the hip" without zooming, it can be very inaccurate.

I never once had a problem hitting with it through 10.4. The bow in 11.x tends to need a slightly elevated aim to get a headshot in (just above their head), but left/right is accurate. Haven't tried the crossbow in 11.x yet, though I think they share the same mechanics.

Good point M.B.M. - I always crouch to get the best aim with either. I find the bow while standing is a difficult thing to get right, so the crossbow must be similar.

Having the same probs with needing to aim slightly to the Right of the zombies head, not zoomed in, but using the crosshairs.

I didn't have much problem aiming the Bow, the Crossbow was a bit harder tho. I find it easy enough to keep it on target even if the sight shifted out, but sometimes it just got so bad it was impossible to hit anything.

I hate aiming with the sneak sight, it pretty much feels like cheating.

Like I say if it gets too bad just unequip and requip it.

This is because the Crossbow fires the arrow from a different position, as it should. When you use irons the bolt leaves from the center screen, When you hip fire the bolt leaves the Crossbow from a lower, slightly right point, making close up hip fire a bit problematic.

I found I had to aim high left up close to headshot them with a hipfire.

Exactly, so the projection of the crosshair for hipfiring is wrong - which makes it kinda obsolete - counts for all guns btw

Oh and i wish they would change that stupid crouch crosshair with the eye - this is really the worst thing they could have copied from Skyrim - but there i can at least use mods to get rid of it. Seriously who comes up with that stupid huddesign ideas???

With the crossbow i don't always zoom in if they get in pretty close since it slows you down so much. But standing still and shooting from the hip when they are almost at arms distance away it will shoot off to the right (also at distance). I went back to useing the bow even though it does a slight bit less damage but least the aim on it is more consistant 1 headshot with it anyways takes down the majority of the zambies. I don't remember every having this issue with the crossbow and its aim in the previous versions.

Ye same here buggy
GirthQQuakes Apr 9, 2015 @ 2:15am
There is currently a bug where the iron sights of the crossbow is off center, and not aligned where the arrow will go. You can verify this by crouching to see and aiming to see your "hidden" icon is not aligned with the iron site. Very similair to the old sniper rifle bug.

Hasnt happened to me very times, but the bug does exist and its got nothing to do with weapon quality.

Unequiping and reequiping fixes it.

I experienced both problems as well.
Even with crosshair i got the impression to have to aim the target a little to the side to get a headshot. I like it not having that red dot, but this slightly-aim-right thingy annoys me, as the crossbow is my favorite weapon most of the time.

Ironsights on the crossbow for Alpha11 is bugged, as was said you have to switch weapons to get the sight set again correctly. ( This holds true for every weapon so far )

This happens OFTEN btw.

From the hip as was also said...it fires from the right, not center.

Also the sneak dot doesnt seem to be lined up perfectly anymore...it sort of works....but not nearly as well as it used to for aiming. ( This could be a learning the new range issue possibly, or some of the 1st person camera bug )

And of course the range of the crossbow is MUCH MUCH shorter now.

I always found with the crossbow that if the Zed is really close, like about to smack you close, then the bolt always passes his head slightly to the right. I thought it was the Pimps extremely accurate modelling of the crossbow and the fact that the aim point was actually about 10 meters in front of you and just adjusted my aim for it.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who keeps missing :)

PS. Cant wait for Flawless Crossbows

I mean i have no problem adepting to it and still get headshots very reliably when shooting from the hip, but than whats the point of having a crosshair when it doesnt work?

To clarify- we talk about 2 problems here:
1) The crosshair not pointing at the right position when firing from the hip
2) Sometimes the crossbow shooting at the wrong point when using ironsights

I havent noticed any problem with inaccuracy of the crossbow - when it worked as it should i always hit my target 100% when using crosshair-mode
