Pack of dogs
Was surprised tonight to get killed by a pack of dogs. Level 13 without being killed in my single player game YET, ws chasing a airdrop in the plains biome at mid-day and i heard a dog. Turned around and it was six dogs. I had a shotgun but if you've messed wiht more than two or three of 7dtd dobermans it's not always so fun.

Needless to say I was pretty upset. I don't want to rage but jezuz they made this effing build so stupidly difficult!

I've seen the pack once and it scared my poopless. Luckily they didnt see me. But yeah, I wouldn't have survived that.

I fought off a horde of this sort on day 6. It was pretty scary but I managed to kill all 10+ of them. I have since fought off another dog horde and narrowly avoided another 2.

Yeah but were you at your base or out in the open and not totally prepared. I managed to kill 5 of the 6 dogs but that kind of BS added to the gamee is just idiotic. If I was at my base wall and had cover or something to climb and shoot from I'd have had a chance. Now however, the dogs in alpha 11 are faster than you are and very difficult to kill under the circumstances. You use to be able to run and back-peddle and hit them in the snout and do well. Not now though.

This kind of addition to the game is a game breaker, it doesn't make it any more fun or challlenging. This was day 15 for me, Level 13, armoured fairly well, good weapons and I was prepared but this is just to difficult of a situation.

I play that if I die I restart howevver it just doesn't matter now since they made it so idioticly hard. It's impoosible not to die now as they made so stupidly hard. I gotta go before i say more crap, I'm still fuming at this....

I'm not giving up my game now, only one death, my wellness is still like...117. It's just going to be a LONG run to get my backpack.

Had two dog packs, around 15 dogs in each, assault our base last night while waiting for the next super horde. I was very glad to be behind our wall and spikes.

Personally I think the packs are fine the way they are at the moment, as they add to the sense of unpredictability and danger. I've encountered them in the wild as well, while out on scavenging hunts, but thankfully I managed to spot/hear them early enough to avoid detection.

No rusty there has not been packs before this is new. I know what I'm talking about, I have allmost 2000 hours into the game now. I'm not talking about hordes either this was a pack of dogs out in the middle of nowhere that spawned just like any one or two zombies would. You're tlaking abnout entirely another mechanic that send hordes in this case thhe dog packs at your base in which you certainly or will most likley be prepared.

If you encounter a redb barn POI, you could possibly see 2-4 dogs, this was the usuall thing before and even those were a handfull if they took you by surprise.

This was however 6 dogs that spawned in behind me while I was looking through a random location in the middle of nowhere. I managed to take out 5 of them as I said but six dogs is to much for anyone to handle now seeing they made everything so much more difficult. It's a survival game it should be difficult and challenging but adding stupid crap like this only makes someone wanna say FK it and leave the game.

I'm well aware it's a new feature and never in my post did I state otherwise? I even said the exact same thing you mentioned, that I've encountered the very same packs while out in the wild. Hordes spawning isn't base specific, they spawn with your position at that time as their travel target. If you happen to remain at that location when they arrive you might be in trouble.

The dog packs work in the exact same way. One time when I was out looking for feathers, hunting animals etc I had a pack of around 10 dogs come over a crest behind me, heading for the spot I had been some 10-20 seconds before. Thanks to not lingering too long in my previous spot I saw them early enough and was able to sprint away enough that they never spotted me.

While I understand it's frustrating - hell, I would've been pissed as well had the pack caught me - I reckon it's a matter of adapting to the changing circumstances in order to survive =)

Yup - adapt and survive. I've been killed by dogs four times since A11 - and not for months perviously.

Too bad - start again or try to get your stuff back.

Actually, once I got attacked by two dogs and managed to kill the first, but the second chased me into a river. I was swimming backwards, punching it as I went. Eventually he killed me, but after I respawned (my sleeping bag was only about 20m away) the dog came after me again and I killed it with a single punch!

So it seems the damage is carried over, too, which I found pretty impressive (and it was great to kill a devil-mutt with one fist to the schnauzer :-)

These new dog-packs r a pain in the a*se, my 2 cents.
Cuz night 7 and the feral hordes im allready not able to play this game in walking dead style, wandering and surviving just by what i find in the daytime. Hiding in a shelter at night, and leaving at the morning to explore the world.
Now we have these dog packs out of the blue every other moment aswell, or nothing for days, then 3 in 1 day.
Had the fun last night.
Realy..if i need an endless swarm of zombies (and zombie-dogs), then i go for LEFT FOR DEAD, its not an alpha, has the better graphic, mocap, atmosphere, tons of weapons and enought ammo all the day long.
But im in 7 days..yes..no ?
ffs add a button "enable" and "disable" in the config section.

I tuned it down in the XML to max 5 dogs per pack, first week I had 3 packs of 20 dogs in 1 day, needless to say I died and died. It's not just the ridiculous amount, it's the stealth. I just encountered another pack, jumped me from behind, I didnt hear anything and I have my sound up high. Luckily I changed the XML to only give about 3-4 and I managed it this time.

Well then must have beeen just a coincidence I haven't run across a pack of dogs before. I mean I have put enough hours into the game it surprises me that this is the first time it's happened.

I ran and got my pack and continued with my game. I'm not going to start another new save game simply because this build is so flawed and buggy what's the point. I died twice before this game in A11 just from opening a door and chest so...it's not like the game is working in my favor, LOL. Normally i'd restart but it's just not that important; I'll go back to a more HARDCORE type of game once it gets fine tuned and patched up more by the Pimps.

Four months to get this patch to us and it makes me wonder how some things are still not fixed or changed. Little things, not really important but probably take very little effort on thier behalf to fix. There's to many to mention but hey here's one, the ham&eggs still has no scent. It works for us, I know but how hard can it be to fix. it's not even a bug it's just unfinished work.

I hope the next few weeks is just TFP's concentration on this build to fine tune it fix the bugs and maybe some minor content added that alreadynvolves what mechanics are working.

We need a dog whistle, maybe that would help.

Well, believe it or not, it's in alpha and early access for a reason.

Please don't complain about bugs - just report them. That is what we are here for - to help develop the game, not to give devs a hard time as they try to make it better.

That doesn't mean that every build needs to be perfect, or that they need to have one version perfect before they release the next one. It isn't finished, and won't be for a very long time.

Let's have some perspective here (I know there are a lot worse posts, but it all adds up to the same thing).

If you want a finished game - you'll have to buy something else. Or wait until retail.

I'd seen a pack of dogs before A11... Just very rare..

As usual, 7dtd gets harder and harder for the start game. I'm in day 4 and still haven't found a forge book. I died three times on the first night because I logged out in a little 3 tile long cave I dug out in a cliff face and the game "helpfully" bumped me up to the surface of the cliff when I logged back in, 10 PM at night on days set to be 2 hours long. I know my post has nothing to do with dogs but my wellness has already taken a hit of -40 all together. Not looking forward to the packs or the hoard.

Man there is just so many little things about A11 that make the game not fun for me. In A10 i literally played 24 and 48 hours straight on more than 1 occasion. With A11 i seldom want to play more than an hour at a time. I have heavly modded my game trying to bring back the fun, but i just can't find it. It sucks cause there are some many cool things about the new build.
den-sly Apr 7, 2015 @ 5:20am
I agree, 7dtd really became more hardcore, those dogs manage to tear me apart even on easy settings. The problem is they give me no chance to use first aid kit and I'm dying from bleeding, stunned. And now it takes time to find some proper gear, especially forge book.
