boiling water without a pot
I think it was 10.2 that added ability to boil water using a stick or something, but I can't seem to get it to work. It either doesnt do anything when I click cook button or gives me some recipe error. Any info be appreciated.

You need to fill the cans with water and cook those to boil water with a stick. Just the brown scrap ones usually for scrap iron.

Fill an empty can with water. Boil over campfire.

You need to put a stick in the cookware slot(where you would put the pot, grill, beaker etc)...

Got the fire going and placed a bottle or murky water in the indicated space (if that's what it's for) but nothing (simply wated wood). Boiling water should not be rocket science and should be easier imo.
Can't you also place an egg in a can of water and boil it?

To boil murky water in a jar you need a cooking pot. If you put water in a tin can you can boil the tin can without any special equipment to drink water from the tin can.

The best places to find a cooking pot if you can't make one due to a lack of a forge is to search ovens, cabinets and fridges in houses. Also look at abandoned campsites in containers and around the campfires on the ground as sometimes they're sitting there. You can also, I don't know why, sometimes find them in bathrooms of stores in cabinets and sinks. Hope this helps Boresight.

@Boresight

Also when I say you need a cooking pot I mean you have to "EQUIP" the cooking pot on the topright of the campfire where you can place a Cooking Pot, Grill and a Beaker. That's where you "EQUIP" your items for your campfire to use.

You can't just have it in your inventory so make sure you put it there to boil the jars of murky water. Otherwise boil water in tin cans. :D

You don't need to 'place' the ingredients anywhere. You just select the recipe from the list, then the number of items you wish to cook and it'll suck up the required items, once you hit 'cook' (you need atleast one fuel item for the cooking to start).

To cook BOTTLES of murky water, you need a cooking pot and place that into the appropriate slot (the one with a picture of a cooking pot on it). Of course, add fuel as needed (to the fuel slot).

It REALLY isn't rocket science.

just use cans of murky water if you don't have a pot yet. you can boil the water in those to get fresh water.

just remember when you use cans that they stack when empty and when full of murky water. They dont stack after being boiled. so you must have space to take them from the fire to store. Only boil as many as you want to drink while in the field. i just make a campfire wherever i need to to have water. Of course i have jars of water with me but try to save it for biomes where water is scarce.

whenever you go to cook anything, you need the ingredients IN YOUR INVENTORY for the recipie to show up. currently you cant select a recipie without any fuel(In the fuel spot) ready to burn either. empty cans filled with water in your inventory should work just fine.

Good luck =)
