Rare Gem Stones?
I was mining the side of a cliff & had a big score & I started thinking of a new stone. How about rare gem stones like quartz, rough diamonds, rubys or something. We could use the gem dtones to craft new armor, diamond tip bullets, etc. etc. I think you got the idea. I was also thinking of some melee weapons like Gauntlets to smash those zed's face inor a mace. It is a survival sp I was also thinking of crafting a blow gun.

Then we could make diamond rings and enchant them with magical effects! Ring of Haste, here I come!

I'd rather have a ring of Smite Undead.

I'm not a huge fan of this idea. With the exception of diamonds (and a few others), gemstones have little to no practical value.... doubly so in a hypothetical zombie apocalypse. A diamond tip bullet, for example, isn't more effective than a regular bullet..... and blithely finding diamonds of the requisite size to make bullet tips should / would be exceedingly rare.

Ruby armor, as another example, is just outlandish. You'd need to find a ruby about the size of a small boulder to craft a full set of armor.... and, as far as I know, rubies that size don't physically exist, and it would still pale in comparison to, say, kevlar.

I guess I don't understand the attraction of turning this into a fantasy game.

I kind tend to agree with you. Gemstone armors and whatnot smacks a little too much of Minecraft. This game has a much different feel, and I'd rather it stay that way. :D

Now, different kinds of ORES would be cool though. Especially if they introduced ways of upgrading your level of technology. For instance, needing copper wire and rare earth magnets (among other things) to make a generator so you could have electrical lights or electrified fences.

I basically agree with Mr. Moustache and FuzzyAnimator.

One use I could accept diamonds for though would be as one of the components for a Glass Maker crafting station.

I mean, imagine if you could craft glass in different shapes, sizes and colors (round, square, octagonal etc...). Then you would be able to also craft lots of different types of colored windows.

That would greatly increase the variety and aesthetics of buildings in the game IMO.

Yea not really for magic or enchantment just better protection against bullets in PVP with a diamond type kavlar armor, diamond tip bullets, you would find them rough just like other ore & have to refine them. I like the idea of gauntlets too covered with diamond tiped spikes for beating the crap out of zed faces.

I would prefer to find an abandoned mine or something along the lines of minecraft. discovering a network of mine shafts would be really interesting, leading back to a mine building/etc.

Or also walkable sewer systems under towns and definitely under 0,0 type cities.

Those are 2 things id rather see than valueless minerals.

Let's turn the game into Minecraft while we're at it. No, thanks.

But I want to some bling bling and I got the cha-ching you know what I ming?

Someone hit me please.

Anyway, while I wouldn't want that kind of thing in the base game, it would be interesting if a modder were to make a fantasy mod for 7DTD. I'd also like to see a Fallout mod.

A Half-Life mod could be really cool too. Imagine, there'd be headcrabs, and if one jumped on you it would be an instant kill and you'd turn into a headcrab zombie.

Oops, getting off-topic.

I always thought rare gems or gold, silver could be used for barter. Apparently I heard we will be getting (gold) coins so....(heard they were already added.)

Not at all interested in any fantasy style play, it could be modded later if anyone wants it. prefer the game to become even more realistic in it's flavour.

I would be on the side that even finding ANY precious metals or gems would be ridiculous in that the rarity or chance would be so low. Thing is it's a game and some times you have to have the ridiculous to make it fun. That's why when we chop down a tree in 7DTD it's nicely cut up for usin trunks and then we easily convert it into lumber. Having logged myself and cut down alot of trees I could imagine how difficult it would be to make all that building material realistically. We don't all want a simluation, we want fun and playability right?

The only real world use for gems which I could see would be a laser or the auger. They might also be used for a radio which might be a requirement for air drops.

Never thought of that, I wasn't heading the fantasy magic route as some commented I was just looking at better Kevlar like armor or tiped bullet tips for PVP using diamonds.
